Someone got expelled in my school

He brought in a bb gun and pointed it at one of his friends. Someone reported him to the Dean.
I never really spoke to him, but he was in my writing class and reading class, and it's so weird how I'm never going to see him again.
Do you think he deserved to be expelled?
Getting into a difficult school doesn't give the kid a get-out-of-jail-free card when pointing a bb gun at another student. A smart kid pointing a bb gun at another kid is the same thing as a ghetto kid pointing a bb gun at another kid.

Besides, bb guns look very similar to real guns. Only if you get really close to one can you tell the difference. If you're at a distance, it can look as if you're brandishing a real gun and that's a huge deal.
I agree
Or made a paper gun and get suspended
I had a paper assault rifle+pistol combo that I brought into school when I was young
It turned out pretty good for me, tacticooly shootin up classrooms with paper darts. Can't remember if I got suspended or not, but I don't think I did...

10 years ago, no he wouldn't have got expelled, but gun related "incidents" are a persistently growing problem in the US in particular, and recent school shootings put people on edge. Now, when you're an authority figure such as a Dean or Principal you have to take such widely publicized current events into consideration when you punish someone for doing similar things.

@juliacat: I don't want to accuse him of anything, but to not have the sense to know that would place a lot of fear to people, especially with all the recent shootings (round world even, with the internet circulating news), I feel no sympathy.
If he was willing enough to bring up anything close to weaponry, then your school doesn't need that.
Imagine if it wasn't a toy ...you'd have been in the same room with potential danger.

Yes he deserves to get exspelled, with the recent shootings in schools and people taking guns to school. Theyhave been put on high alert. This guy is a complete dumbass. What was going through his mind...when he brought it to school "hey this will make me cool if Ibring a gun to school and pretend to shoot people, this is such a, god idea" yes people like this need to get exspelled......and people like him are the reason we have no child left behind.....

Yes, in my school if you even bring a toy gun, water gun, or any other gun you would get in trouble and will get charge. In my lil bro's middle school someone bought a air soft gun to school so he could sell it after school.
Yes he deserves it.
And he can always go to another school
I'm not disagreeing, but my school was really hard to get into and it has all these special programs, unlike the ghetto school he's probably going to end up going to now.

maybe if he made a disguise to put over it like this < http://www.dontevenreply.com/images/glock.JPG > he would have been ok.

the dean should have given him the choice to either

-get expelled
-stick his finger in his own butthole and lick it

I wasn't sure if that word called for capitalization; whenever someone refers to him in school on paper, they capitalize the D

I think that's worth getting expelled for.
Bringing any type of gun to school is dangerous, as it can really, really freak people out, even if it is just a BB gun. Someone could not know the difference and think it's the real thing. There are shootings occasionally at schools, and there are very strict rules concerning guns; they are not allowed on school property. It can cause a panic, after all. They don't want the children to feel unsafe going to school.

I'm sure he knew that he wasn't allowed to bring the BB gun to school. It was his fault
I feel bad for him, but yeah.
