Punch Launcher or Healing Robot?
Which should i max? Which is more important? At level 6 punch launcher already hits higher damage than my atomic hammer with the mastery, but it only hits 4 at the level or should i max healing robot?
hey, I was just wondering where you got the 3.3% from.
If most monsters have 10% def, won't that mean they take 10% less damage from you?
So if atomic hammer ignores 30% def, won't using it mean you will do 10% more damage (since it doesn't go negative def), or basically meaning you will do true 100% of your damage.
I'm just curious on where the 3.3% come from because I saw that result from some other threads too but no1 explained it.
Okay, well monsters have 10% damage reduction. The 30% damage reduction ignores 30% of that 10% (3%). So you would end up doing 93% damage to monsters with atomic hammer rather than 90% without. Doing 93% as opposed to 90% more is the same as multiplying your damage against monsters by 1.033, or a 3.3% increase.
Okay, here's the run-down... according to the skill lists on the site...
Medical Droid - HLX
Level 18: MP -54; Heals 23% HP for 38 seconds 390% Self Destruction Damage cooldown of 51 seconds
Level 20: MP -50; Heals 25% HP for 40 seconds 400% Self Destruction Damage cooldown of 45 seconds
Difference: MP -4; Heals 2% of HP for 2 seconds 10% Self Destruction Damage cooldown of 6 seconds
Rocket Punch
Level 18: MP -32; attacks 5 enemies with 410% damage, 3 second stun
Level 20: MP -35; attacks 6 enemies with 420% damage, 3 second stun
Difference: MP -3; attacks 1 enemy with 10% damage, 3 second stun
So, a little more heal for a little less MP and a shorter cooldown or a little less MP to attack 1 more monster for 10% more damage.
Your call.
Basil skill info for rocket punch is wrong. It's 570% at max with 6 monsters. Heal-bot is useless at all levels, because it heals based on your base hp, without your mech or equips, only heals when you are ducking, and does not heal non-mech party members.
max everything in 3rd job beside punch leave that at lvl 16.
Technically no, there were many threads with that argument and it failed. The only reason it does more damage with mastery is because it ignores 30% of the Monster's def when used. Rocket Fist does have a higher speed to train with, and is much better then using Atomic Hammer in 3rd job because of the delay that has. (enemies popping into air, ect)
I'm not arguing that atomic hammer is better even though it's stronger. I went rocket punch myself and don't regret it, but the truth is that Atomic Hammer is stronger with mastery.
Also, another common misconception is that 30% def reduction is significant. I'll explain:
The actual def value of all monsters plays no part in damage calculation. Most 'regular' monsters have a 10% passive damage reduction that acts as their defense (bosses have 20%, and so on). The 30% def reduction acts on this 10% defense, effectively increasing your damage by 3.3%. Not significant at all.
Metalfist mastery multiplies damage by 1.5x at max. Def reduction makes little to no difference. Thanks.
Al you guys in this thread need to learn game mechanics OR, learn to read. Mastery adds +50% Total damage when using Atomic Hammer. NO, it does NOT multiply the damage.
Thank you for your recommandation, but I can already read, tyvm.
I just went punch launcher first because i read a guide and it said that punch launcher was better (which, apparantly is wrong according to some other people).
I know the skill says
"Mastery adds +50% Total damage when using Atomic Hammer."
However, like i stated above, and which you probably have clearly read, I read some other posts that said that it was x50% and not +50%, while others have stated that it's the other way. This is what made me confused, and curious of what was actually correct.
Anyhow, thanks for answering my question in a mature and thoughtful way.
P.S - I maxed out punch launcher first anyway, haha.

@FreeWii4Mii: I have a mech and i tried it out (well, with max punch launcher and 11 metal fist mastery), but i wasn't sure. So, naturally i came to basil in hopes of getting some kind help from someone who would be nice enough to expain to me why one skill is better than the other.

Yeah, like you can just "learn game mechanics". Try out the goddamn skills yourself, as many other mechanics have. Hammer with mastery does more than rocket punch.
i still dont get it >:O
Some people say "Atomic hammer is 480% total, it's 430% + 50%" and others go "Atomic hammer is 645% total, it's 430% * 50%".
So now i dont know who to believe.
Both posts i read that stated these things said "It's true! I am 100% sure, i have proof." but neither provided any proof so idk who's right D=
yea i thought of that too, so i guess hammer it is, Thanks guys
uhh unless i did my math wrong isnt mastery +50% damage? does it mean like 430*50%= 215+430=645% damage final?
