My genuine thoughts on this new Kms patch

This patch is going to be a real double-edged sword. I'm happy and saddened at the same time. The boss hp thing isn't so bad, I respect that decision because they expect more party play. This is ,at the same time, very bad for a vast majority of people. The bosses that were buffed were bosses that average parties already had (some) issues defeating in the first place. It's great because the challenge is now greater, bad because it's one only triumphed by geared people. Other than that there's a lot of iffy stuff going on in the patch...

Pros- Cubes dropping from boss monsters, allowing up to "Epic" tier potential. This makes it so that you can actually not waste (as much) money to get to average range.

- Weapon drop rate supposedly raised (hopefully enough to make farming them viable), with new stat bonuses and the possibility to get high level, awesome equips.

- Most likely going to force people to play with parties until they introduce new ways to hit the new cap of 50 mil damage.

Cons - Freaking every end game equip past a certain level will require you to spend NX to transfer or sell. Complete crap for the market, and more.

-Though the boss buff is a good thing for party play, it's a bad thing for people who already struggled with them and already partied for them. It's like Nexon only pays attention to maybe... 10% of the population (which are the people hitting max and soloing bosses) when they think of certain revamps. It's completely unfair because the game is evolving around the 10%, and not the 90%.

-Small note that I think only annoys me. They're removing skill effects and numbers for anyone hitting a boss other than you, if more than one other person is attacking it. I think this was for efficiency, so you'd know when your damage starts to fall off, or to reduce lag. But for me, this was one of the fun things about bossing.

The cubes only raise potential up to epic status, and have the chance to downgrade your potential.

Now nobody will boss. Making them 10x harder and decreasing the exp. No more rapid fire for phantoms
the damage cap increase alone has made maplestory alot better. no more will geared people just hoard over to classes that hit the fastest. there will be more class variety. remember some classes can hit the current damage cap easier than others like warriors.

And although i say this now, i highly doubt nexon raised the damage cap to 50m expecting people to eventually hit 50m. I really think it was just so that people wouldn't be pressured into playing hurricane like classes or dual blades to have optimal damage.
The sole fact that they made max range 999,999->2,000,000 is proof enough that they expect for people to eventually hit it. Also, it won't change the fact that fast attacking classes will outdamage slow-but-high damage classes.

@evilkaz: I believe it's a good thing as well, for the same reasons you do. But once again, they forgot about the non-geared. They didn't buff Zakum, I don't believe they buffed Horntail, and they may or may not have done Pink Bean. These are the three basic bosses that practically anyone can do with average range and a party. They buffed the bosses that people struggled with already, therefore it sort of kills any excitement that the non-geared community could have. It's more of a fence for the non-geared.
Forced partying is a negative. Parties are only effective if everyone wants to be together, not if they all have a gun to their heads.
I think of it as a positive. It brings back the sense of community that MS was all about pre-BB. People can learn to work together again like we did when it took 20+ people to take down Zakum and HT was a real challenge.
money to transfer items?... so the storage in Maplestory will be like the cashshop now?
Not like cash shop. Apparently, items that have the bonus stats from the new system implemented, will require you to use scissors to trade them. Don't know if this applies to only high level equipment, but that's what it sounds like.

Honestly bosses will have to be important or poop a bucket of nice gear just for them to be well, worthwhile. Seriously if this goes to KMS then by god tweak the dang thing, Okay fair enough with getting bosses to be more of a challenge thats a good thing, cool we want that, we also want to party play no more soloing, brilliant, but when it gets to the point that everytime you want to go kill a boss is mind numbing because of the insane HP frankly my dear it just isn't worth it, you know why because we tasted the tainted fruit of damage hoarders, and we liked it we may have complained but if we lose it the community will flip its table.

Point is because of the potential system being introduced and the gameplay going from free to play to pay to win, we become heavily dependant on the damage, I think its in some way related to how we see Pizza slices, we always want the best piece and they always provided, where Nexon only offered past sel by date goods. I think the potential was introduced as a way to give legit maplers pizza damage, and in the end that backfired, so is that Nexons fault or ours? Well us taking Maple for granted I guess, I mean there are many reasons people liked the pizza slice.

Wow. Just re-read the bosses. That's so stupid! Well, I'm probably just being selfish, but come on! They're like rediculous. 210B hp. Are you kidding me?

@AllDayErryDay: From a broad point of view, this patch seems amazing. But when you get down to the core of it and analyze every aspect, this patch is horrible for the economy and the community. Increasing the maximum damage and the maximum hp (of bosses) makes the game even more focused on damage than it already is. And since, so far, there hasn't been any news of a COMPLETE revamp of every single class, the gap between the funded and unfunded is going to be OUTRAGEOUS. Seriously.

Yeah, I've been seeing you around other threads. I feel your pain.

As someone who is at least moderately funded, I just can't say I agree with most of this patch.

I hope they end up changing damage formulas to appropriate the boss hp's increasing by a huge amount.

The boss thing is good. I'm just worried about another batch of BF Police sprouting up. Ugh.
50mill cap? I saw that the other day at a party (It was just getting started so I was kinda bored) I was hoping I was too faded and it wasn't true. I'm dissapoint.
