If I by a new phone
Do I have to change my plan? Or can I just keep it?
As of right now, I have a crappy 3 year old phone and the battery runs out every 3-4 hours. I was thinking of getting a smartphone like the Galaxy or iPhone.
And does my service provider matter? I have TMobile [cheap and terrible network --- I know] if it means anything.

If you're not getting good value, change the offer if you have prepaid. If you're on the plan and its bad like you say, change.
Nah just chuck your sim in the new phone.
