Ice strike's range?
My friend says the range is very small at lv 1
when does the range increase?
also are there any i/l big bang guides out there?
and does anybody have a recommended 3rd job build for him?

First, get Ice Strike to a decent level (try lv. 9 or 10) and make sure you level up Magic Booster to level 11 (for faster casting/longer cooldown). After that, you can do the following:
- Max Ice Strike for maxed range/damage.
- Get at least level 5 Teleport Mastery (or max it). It's useful for telecasting.
- Continue maxing Elemental Amplification for more damage. Although if you find that it's mana heavy, for now you don't have to max it now.
- Get Elemental Decrease since it will open up more areas for you to train on.
- Elemental Composition because of high damage (It will work well with Elemental Decrease).
- Seal (In case you find magic monsters annoying)
- Do what you want.
This is just my opinion on the simplest way you can do to maximize your damage. Feel free to play around with it. GL.
