How long do you think I should wait until I lift weights?

While doing my chest workout last week, I thought I pulled something in my lift arm.
I was just excited to finally be benching my own body weight, and I definitely overdid it (I did a sixth, unnecessary set)
The doctor confirmed that I pulled a ligament.
I'm also on the antibiotic avelox, which has been confirmed to increase chances of getting tendonitis..
Urgh, this sucks.

How long should I take it easy for? x_x
When you feel better isn't always right, there's plenty of times you'll feel better but you will not be fully repaired. It's not a smart idea to start lifting until you're cleared by a credible doctor, there's a reason why "game time decisions" have to be made in sports, they literally have the doctor with them to say whether he can play or not.

6 sets isn't gonna kill him or cause him injury, just because it's the same exercise doesn't mean it's bad. I did up to 7 sets on my flat if you count warm ups. A lot of training styles have you train a lot of sets sometimes also, they tend to be pyramids as well.
See, there's peeps like you here!
It's just really frustrating; after twenty years I finally find something I'm starting to get passionate about and then I have to go and screw it up with my impulsiveness.
Ah well, c'est la vie.. thank you, I'll just keep going to my doctor and avoid heavy lifting for a while..
Isn't it kind of obvious? Wait until you feel better before lifting again.. what answer were you expecting?

Also, why the heck are you doing 6 bench sets, you should only be doing 3-4.
I do 5 sets like this: 1x10, 2x7, 3x5, 4x3, 5x3
I was starting with ~185 pounds on my first set and went up by 10 pounds with each set after, aiming to get 3 reps on my last set

I was just wondering if maybe someone has had a similar experience; it's just really depressing to not even be able to do push-ups

6 to 9 months to have your arm 100%. 9 being minimum, 6 taking a risk. If you value your youth i would wait 9 months, you have a long life ahead of you.

No way, I stopped as soon as I felt the pain.
To above, I've read some pretty good advice from some people here.. didn't feel like making an account on bodybuilding.com, although I think I might as well since I have so much free time now~
@above, he was pretty ambiguous about it. He said wait a few weeks. What concerns me more is the antibiotic I'm on which increases chances of getting tendonitis. Do not want.
