Return Scroll Question

If I were to scroll my weapon and the scroll failed, would I be able to use a return scroll to gain back the slot?
However, my weapon already has 4 scrolls passed on it. Would the return scroll bring my weapon back to its base stats or just give me back the last used slot
You have to use the return scroll first before using whatever stat increasing/decreasing scroll. You only use a return scroll with chaos scrolls. There's no other reason for them. They don't return a used slot and they don't work with shield scrolls, unfortunately.
Wrong. They're essentially an improved version of Shield scrolls.
1) Protects slot if failed
2) If you don't like the result if a scroll passes, you can return it back to the pre-scroll state.

I'll tell you from my experience, it saves the slot if the scroll fails.
If it works (and that means you used the Return Scroll before any other scroll), you're given the choice to keep the stats given or change to what it was previously. It let's you compare the before and after if you forget.

The return scroll would just reverse the effects of the last scroll used. This includes the taken slot. But remember it doesn't protect from boominggg.
