What kind of music do you listen to?
Hey there.
First of all, in case you're going to ask, I didn't make this thread a poll, because I wouldn't be able to fit too many genres in it, and if I did put some genres together, there would be always that one person (or many) who would rage about it.
I, myself usually listen to all kinds of music. On my spotify playlist, there are currently 3108 tracks, which all of them are great.
These days I mainly listen to metal music. I love the 80's metal bands like Megadeth, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, (older) Metallica, Anthrax and Slayer, the good old classic Pink Floyd, but I also love these newer 'heavier' bands, like Machine Head and Trivium. I also like progressive metal, like Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree and let's say Animals As Leaders. I also really enjoy the house musicians such as Deadmau5 and Wolfgang Gartner. I used to listen to dubstep, but it all started sounding the same; At first the huge bass drops were breathtaking, now I don't get those feelings anymore. To name a few, Skrillex, Flux Pavilion and Rusko are, well, were good (On a note; I don't like Skrillex's new album at all). I really love Nirvana and Korn too from the grungier side. Some of my all-time-favorite bands are also Rise Against, Avenged Sevenfold, Lamb of God, Trivium (mentioned it already, I know. Deserves another mention though) and Skillet.
But now, I've gotten more into some more 'thoughtful' music (if you can say so). To name a few, which I deeply suggest you to check out, Tool, Pink Floyd (Listened since I was a child, still love it, and day by day I love it more and more) and Kingston Wall.
You should also look through Tool's official music videos, they are made with Stop motion animation technique, and after looking through them, I bet you'd wish that you were on the level of understanding. You should also check out their lyrics; they are really good. And with really good, I mean really good. Tool's music is truly one-of-a-kind.
About Pink Floyd; Great lyrics, great music, great emotions messaged through the music. You should check a movie of theirs; The Wall.
Kingston Wall. It's a band from my country (Finland), their music is amazing. Too bad they broke up, because their lead person died, sadly. They would be well known by today, if only he didn't die yet. Please carry their spirit on by listening to their music.
Here are some of my top choices from these bands that you should check out:

Little bit of everything. Some hipster music, some country, some rap, some classic rock, some metal, but mostly JEFFREE STAR <3
the music i listen to is not cool anymore
It's easier for me to say what I don't like, and that's country and death metal/screamo type stuff. Oh and uuh what's it called, trance? Too boring most of the time.
Everything else I'll listen to and most of it I'll enjoy.
Pink Floyd and Tool are awesome
I'm fine with a lot of genres.
But i mostly listen to Kpop/Jrock. < 3
I'm an all round type of person when it comes to music, but a few of my favourite bands are:

We Are Trees
The Black Keys

Pop, Indie and some Dubstep.
I'm a weird child.
My Mp3 is right now full of Dubset and Drum&Base
I have some mainstream music on my computer but they are put away in a folder.
A good mixture of metal (especially melo death), dubstep, nintendocore/chiptune, and jazz.

As for rock, I like to listen to the 90's bands I grew up with such as Aerosmith. I love the "Nine Lives" album. My favorites are "Nine Lives" itself, "Full Circle", "Pink", and "Last Child".~
@ball3 Hm. Not really my taste, but I still can see why someone would like it.
Interested how there have been rarer music tastes than the go-with-the-mass. :o

Hmm, it does remind me of TOOL actually. Sounds pretty good.
And no, I don't play the guitar. I play the drums. Played for 8 years now.
And at everyone who suggested me some bands, thanks, gonna check them later. Also, good to see a wide selection of music taste on basil. Keep 'em coming.
Your tastes sound oddly similar to what I was like as an underclassman.
OT: First time I've heard of Tool. I must say, they're really good. This is definitely playlist material for me.

Wow, I was taken aback by that. Quality stuff.
Lamb of god and Korn! Those are two awesome bands
I listen to a lot of metal music, although more of the newer and heavier stuff. Anything from Korn and Lamb of God as mentioned earlier to August burns red, At the Gates and Meshuggah to Whitechapel and Carnifex and numerous bands more works fine for me!
One of my favorites at the moment is a djent-metal band from my home country Sweden. The instrumental creativity is enticing! vildhjarta
Rap
Hopsin, Dizzy Wright, Dr.Dre, Snoop Doggy Dogg (i dont like the new him), 2pac, Xzibit, Nate Dogg, Richie Cunning, Hilltop Hoods, Yelawolf, Royce Da 5'9, some Wiz Khalifa,

it varies. a lot. classical rock, rock, some dubstep, etc.
As long as it isn't bubblegum pop/kcrap/bieber my ears are open
@Permafrost
Interesting. Might look further into O)))'s stuff. :o
