Buccaneer

How does the guide currently fare?

So, I've had a fair bit of free time recently; I'm not really playing MapleStory anymore, although I wouldn't say I've quit. Hardware space is restricting my ability to use MapleStory at home, since I lack the space for it, while I don't really play it elsewhere due to 'better' games being available when I have adequate Internet at another location on my laptop; it also has some data issues, but nothing too major. That being said, I'm a fair bit out of touch with what's been happening in-game recently.

Hopefully, the sticky'd guide hasn't fallen into much decay; I know the previous guide did, and since I'm still somewhat active forum wise, I figure I could ask the users of the Buccaneer forum: does it need updating? My main concern is the equipment section, which most likely needs to be changed; I'm pretty sure the build options are relatively solid, but in any case... I'm simply wondering how much updating, if any, it needs; I can certainly find the information myself and, if need be, delete some things in order to play Maple again and find out what has changed.

That being said, it'd be amazing if those of you with some spare time could check the guide, even if it's solely a single section, and see if it's out of date; I'm thanking everyone in advance for their help, since the guide wouldn't be what it is today without community contributions, so I'm eagerly awaiting your responses. Hopefully, it's fared fairly well, and doesn't require a complete overall like the last one did.

My bad, I explained it weird haha. You use the Runes to buy boxes from the NPC in Root Abyss. Each box has a different type of equip: one for hats, one for overall/top/bottom, one for shoes/gloves, and one for weapons. The weapon box costs 4 Runes while the other boxes cost 2 Runes. Each boss drops 1 coin per run (at least on the runs I've been on).
You don't know which weapon or equip you'll get, so as Kreyni said, there's a pretty low chance to gain a knuckle with the special effect. However, you many get another equip and might be able to sell it off for a good amount or trade it off for a knuckle with the same effect (I've seen these special equips go for xxx million in my world).

Oh, the reward is a random Knuckler with such a thing? I must have misread that post, because I thought that the Runes would apply that to current equips; my mistake, I was foolish to think Nexon would allow people to have competitive equips without paying NX Cash. Silly me.

Two shotted? Are Luminous a weak class, health wise? I don't remember mobs at MP3 being that strong, especially not damage wise; perhaps it's some changes they made with the levels once again, or perhaps I'm simply remembering it incorrectly.

Exactly what does this PQ entail? Such as level limitations, requirements, difficulty, stages, ect? Since that's a pretty damn 'easy' way to pass 10%'s on a Knuckle, which would provide an insane boost in attack; that's +35 from 10%'s that have a guaranteed pass rate, which is certainly a way to make a good Knuckle, if one has the patience. I'll have to check that out.

Jesters is actually abandoned? That's strange. It used to be absolute chaos, even on deserted servers, especially after every new class release; I hope you won't take offense, but I'm skeptical. Although I will note that, assuming someone could confirm that training around Nautilus is actually easy, I'll certainly add that in; I always ended up training at Golems due to how I generally had a fair bit of funding, so accuracy was the only issue.

On the topic of PQ's, the thing essentially boiled down to this; competing for a Jesters map was, assuming everyone was stubborn and you weren't funded, would end up in a rather pointless 'war' for the map, and generally, unless you could force others out through superior damage and mobility, PQ's were more effective. If Jesters are deserted, or at the very least there's no trouble fighting for a map, then that certainly isn't the case; do note that I'm talking about the Chimney maps, since I find the map with four spawns to be relatively inefficient. That may simply be wrong, however, so assuming it is, I'll gladly change that.

Nice to see there's still some people willing to help out around, especially you old guys, no offense intended.

Like you said, the build section seems to be perfectly fine since nothing has changed, but the equips may need a bit of updating.

Through the Root Abyss boxes that you can buy with the Runes dropped by the bosses, you can get equips with special effects like "all scrolls except EEs will pass" or "cubes will raise the tier of this equip at a 100% rate". The bosses aren't THAT hard, and if you go in with a party (need at least 2 people to enter), everyone gets a rune when one party member loots. If you get one of these special equips and it just so happens to be for a Pirate/Bucc, you can make a pretty good equip without spending much.

You can also take advantage of the current Everyday Happytime event, which gives Protection scrolls, Incredible Chaos, Lucky Day scrolls, etc just by staying logged in for 30 minutes. You can only do it once per day, but I've been doing it everyday on my main and a couple of mules and I can tell you that I saved quite a lot of money. This event ends on the 19th though, so doubt you'd want to include it haha
