downloading speed prob

I have a relatively new laptop, dual core 2.54ghz, with "broadband high speed internet"
However everytime I download ms, it takes me 6~ hours because I clock at around 180kbps as opposed to my friends who finish the whole thing in 2 hours.
I also get disconnected everytime someone uses the landline aka home phone.

Does that mean I actually have dialup connection and my informer is straight up lying to me? How would I fix this issue?
Also is there any other possible reasons as to why I'm going so slow?
*Skyrim took 11 hours >.>
Many thanks.
may be a dumb question but what's a kiosk?
and downloading 1.62mbps, upload .37mbps
Divide download by 8 and you get your max download speed.

200kb/s more or less.

Download rates depend on your line quality, signal, bandwidth, server host, etc.

Download it from steam if you believe something it wrong with your speed, their servers always give you 100% of what you're paying for unless there's a sale/holiday.
