What is the league of legends
to champions, like not what the game is but what is it to them? is it like a tournament to compete with other people(champions) from other countries? Or is it just some place where they hang out and just fight fo no reason?

The lore team nowadays are lacking the primary details to why that champion have joined.

each champion ended up in the league in some sort of quest for glory and with the summoners aid they will achieve that ish
The lore of each champion explains reasons why they "joined the league", so to me this implies that they're fully aware and willing to fight against other people (champions). In my opinion, they probably see it as a survival game/tournament like hunger games.
IIRC, it was created to resolve disputes arena-style rather than having all out wars between nations.
well if you read the lore, they tend to have a back story and explanation for joining the league, etc, etc.

Each champ has his or her reason(s) for joining. Although lately the explanation has just been, "X felt like it."
Came here expecting another @grip25 post due to the title but boy am I relieved.
OT: It's probably considered a tournament.
