Could someone explain behind the wheel training to me?

I live in California and recently finished drivers ed online. Now I think I have to enroll into behind the wheel training, I wasn't sure if this was like a thing with me and an instructor teaching me or if it was like some kind of examination thing that I need to pass in order to get an eligible permit, and if it is some kind of test, am I allowed to practice with an adult with a license in a car with me beforehand? I'd really appreicate some helpful info.

If you have a training permit, you are allowed to practice with an adult who is licensed.

It's pretty easy... just look about ten feet ahead of the car, you naturally steer where you are looking so don't look off to the side or you'll start to drift to the side, always look everywhere when you're backing up (to the front, back, sides of the car etc.) and... well, look around. be alert. glance in your rearview mirror occasionally. be alert for kids playing or dogs running around. don't go over the speed limit, etc.

don't let cars behind you determine your speed. if they're tailgating you, they can always go around you. don't let them push you to go faster than you are comfortable with.
