So I need a phone

So I had a phone about 3 years ago when I was 12-ish and didn't really use it. So I gave it back to my parents telling thme to cancel the wasting of money every month.
Now I actually need a phone. I got lost many times, not knowing if my parents even knew where I was.
I can't decide which type of phone, if any, that I should get.
