Rutgers University Ok to skip a class during add/drop perio

Rutgers University Students: Is it ok to skip the first/second day of class during the add/drop period? Because I registered my classes late, I only of 3 classes at the moment (obviously I will add more) due to classes being full. I'm being put into classes which have very bad times for me (I commute and I have one class at 11am and another class at 7pm). The 7pm one is Basic Calculus and I already skipped the one today because I don't want to go to Newark again. I thought it was ok because I could always get the syllabus online (perhaps) and I was actually recommended into a higher math class. There is another one tomorrow that is a recitation (I believe? It lasts 50 min compared to the regular 1 hr classes). Can I skip that one as well? Will attendance be taken? Will some students skip classes during the add/drop period like I do? Can I assume that the professor won't assign us any assignments/work because people haven't settled in to their schedules yet during this period?

Thanks a lot.

@immortal192: Its general knowledge that the prof can drop you if you don't go the first day, its how they decrease the waitlist.

Are you specifically a Rutger's student?

Well at my university ( UT Austin ), professors didn't assign homework first week.
Attendance is usually not mandatory in classes ( some classes are too big or whatever ) It is still better to go to class so you don't fall behind from the beginning.
