Any Microsoft App programmers out here?

Hi, I recently got myself into programming apps for microsoft.

I wanted to make my own apps related to productivity like "bus schedule", "inspirational quote" (<- I don't think this is productivity...), and more.

However, I noticed that Microsoft uses C++ instead of Java script, so I decided to start to learn how to write with C++.

My question is this: are C++ and Java completely different languages? Or are they similar in someways?

Thanks, much help is appreciated.

@funneh Windows 8 uses an enhanced version of XML, they called it XAML. But Windows 8 apps core coding still revolves around C#, whereas necessary graphical details are edited in XAML.

OT: What above said. However, Java has a broader range of functionality as it a "WORA" language.
