try this riddle

i want to buy a jacket for $97.
If i borrow 50 dollar from you and another one to my friend, that will be $100.
I have $3 left. I pay you $1 and i pay my frend $1. i Keep the other $1. so i just owe you $49 and my friend $49. SO that will be $98.. Plus my $1. That will be $99. Where is the $1?

on a side note
I HATE HOW THE MESSAGE,"Either your post or thread title is too short. Do not use a post extender (this will result in a suspension), simply put your response in sentence format." DELETES ME ENTIRE POST THEN I HAVE TO REWRITE THE WHOLE THING
Ok, so it is a basic equation:

x+99=y-3/2

x/(-3/2)=fish+1

Fish = 2+2 therefore,

The answer is 42.
This guy is right.

This is a really really old riddle o.O
It's all due to the close numbers that the trick even works. If you say paid back 10 dollars to both people instead of 1, then you would still owe each 40. If you still kept 1 dollar, and then be like "So that's 40+40+1... where'd the $19 dollars go?," you look ridiculous and the riddle falls apart.

You subtract it to get back to the $3 you had left.

You're buying a 100 dollar jacket and care about $1?
You were supposed to SUBTRACT your last dollar, not add it since it's yours already.

Lame, saw it on Facebook.
I'm surprised this is even considered a riddle.
