Oh MapleStory, how are you so addicting

I love how addicting this game can be. It makes me forget about my problems in real life sometimes and I haven't even touched this game in a good 4 months. And this site is pretty addicting too, I go on like these cycles now where I leave the site for a good 4 months then come back to see a new crowd of Basilers and Maplers and then I leave and come back and thus the cycle repeats. One thing I love about MapleStory is how much money I've spent on it, which is somewhere around 200 - 300 dollars, yeah, there's a lot of things I could get with that but hey, I used to be really into this game and now there are tons of ways to make NX for free. Sometimes I wonder if the players who play this game actually realize how much money the put into such a simplistic game, and for what? Pixels? Useless online money? Or just for fun? Whatever the cause, it's amazing how much money just adds up overtime. Another funny thing about this game is I have actually lost sleep over it, I've been so addicted to this game at one point where I would dream about it, it's insane. But I think what makes the game so addicting is the community and Basil, which is also part of the community I guess. After my friend showed me Basil I got addicted so fast, and I have no idea why, there are many better forum sites, with less rules for posting and larger community's, but just something about Basil makes it great, I just can't put my finger on it though. I've met a lot of cool people over the years of me playing Maple on and off, and going on Basil I have met a few friends as well. It's funny really, I've met more people I would hang out with on sites like Basil, than I have in real life. Why am I telling you all of this? I don't really know, I'm bored, wide awake, can't stop thinking about things.

I think Nexon knows. They know people are quitting so they bring cool stuff into the game to make you come back.

You actually didn't spend that much on Maple.
I've spent at least $800 on Maple, maybe more.
This is very true, when you get very tight with other people in Maple its hard to quit.

Sort of makes me think of real life, and how you have friends, and you decide to kill yourself. Just an example o.O
Then you realize that all Maplestory is is a large dramafest were people take things too seriously. It's like irl but you don't get laid.
Maplers these days, so helpfull
*hint* this is called sarcasm^^^
He's right, though. Once you have enough other hobbies and interests, maple just pales in comparison.
Sometimes I wish my in game friends would quit. Then I would have no reasons to play.
I have a question; when does maple become boring? Specifically, what age?
Once you have a life. Not kidding.
Hmm, Are you still addicted?
Not really, I reinstalled the game, played it, wasn't interested, and I don't think I ever will be in MapleStory at least, but Basil is quite addicting. I am just in one of those cycles.
