Purchasing your gear vs making your own gear

in your opinion, which one is cheaper?

i like to make my own weapons but everything else i don't mind buying since my cubing luck is horrid
The ideal scenario is to find someone quitting MS, then buy all their gear from them for a fraction of what it costs to make. It's easier if you're playing unpopular classes, but even then you'll need a lot of patience. The faster you want something done, the more you'll have to pay for it.
True... And when buying sometimes you gotta avoid wanting to buy something RIGHT NOW and waiting for a better price.

It depends actually, for equips you have the option of Unique potentialing the item and cubing from there. Actually, nope buying it straight still beats self made gear by a huge margin. Unless you're the type to get all technical how you wouldn't want to have duped gear and what not

Purchasing is the better option imo

However, if nothing for your class exists *coughdexcough* you'll be forced to make your own.

I like making my own because certain events make it easy as well as it being cheaper. It also gives me a feeling of progression and pride towards the items i make.

It really depends on your goal.. Or time you want to spend. On my tb, I spent more than year, got every gear to unique without cubist to tier up. I've worked on events since fall 2013 when tb got revamped, now I have 1m clean, with not much nx used (some red cubes for good pot)

pretty much on luck. i would say i havent spent over 10 bil on my equips and my range pre star force was 250k. its now 430k.
my hat: 12% luk epic tier
3% all
3% luk
6% luk : 12 cubes

my pants:
6% luk
6% luk
bad line

15 cubes

most cubes i found tho

purchasing ofc since you're more likely to get stats you don't want than do want when making your own

:/ purchasing is cheaper and better, at least you don't have to deal with LUCK factor, which is by far the most costly one lol.

well probably cheaper to buy, however i like making my own stuff.
scrolling my staff cost a total of what? 300-500m that was with current prices at that time.
scrolled it to +10 with 9att scrolls (used like 3 pinnacle ones) and to 12 stars (pre star force)
only that money, in that sense yes it was cheaper.

the potential is other story, took a lot to get to legend but 0 mesos to unique.

i think nowadays is cheaper to buy, before it was cheaper to self scroll but potential is always (or at least the majority of times) cheaper to buy (unless u are extremely lucky)

Purchasing is cheaper. My 2H sword's attack as scrolled would cost like... as much as the cost of my 2H bought as is. And the soul applied is the price of the 2H. And the cubing probably got close to the price of my 2H. I did get my weapon for a good deal but unless you have a large amount of untradeable scrolling-related items, just buy it. Unless you wanna be like AjsNoDexDit and take forever. I don't have patience for that. At that rate some new weapon's gonna come out, lol.

Answers are bias.

If the scrolling goes in your favour, then it's cheaper; just a lower chance of it doing so. Buying it will be more expensive, but more safe and zero risk because the stats you desire are guaranteed and might be cheaper than scrolling terribly on an item with clean slates.

There's no real answer. If you want to be safe, buy it for a little more. If you want to take a risk to pay less, scroll?

depends if you take your time or rush your equips. I took my time over months and months and its been much cheaper than if I would have bough everything already made

for example, my claw is 232atk and i spent 6b purchasing it and 12k cubing it while its worth well more than but, I took months to finish and alot of time/farming
