Wow, this is ridiculous

So my dad went Christmas shopping with my brother and they went to pick up 5 gift cards (two for 1st cousins and three for 2nd cousins+baby). Now, my second cousins ALWAYS get my bro and I $20 gift cards each. But when my brother went with my dad, he insisted on $40 each for them, and $60 each for my 1st cousins! Now I'm thinking, woah! They're only gonna give us $20 and we're giving them $20 more each! I think this is an outstanding amount and will make them look bad.

What do you think about this, basil?

I think it's sad that gift giving is a competition.
My best friend is in debt to me around $150, eats at my house 5/7 days a week, sleeps here 3-4/7, and my mom literally has her own grocery list for him...

for Xmas my dad gave him a $400 ring and $250 glass fish for his girlfriend and his family so that he didn't use any of his own money on gifts.

He's still in debt $150 to me.

He buys clothes, eats out, and goes to movies with his girlfriend with that extra money he saved...

I'm still $150 short.

BUT IT'S THE HOLIDAYS, SHARE YOUR WEALTH! If you have money, who cares about what you're getting when you can help others? By no means am I some sort of "good person" but if you have so much money and can help others in need... why not? Your dad wouldn't be dishing out the cash if he couldn't afford it, so be generous for once and show that you aren't just giving some cheap gift card when you can afford more. I always share what I have and buy stuff for others if I can, giving to the homeless is great also. Stop thinking about equality in gifts, it's not meant to be based off of what you get in return.
Yeah, I'd understand if they were poor. But they aren't. In fact, my family is struggling more. My mom has to work in another country while my dad has to stay here and take care of my brother and I.

My dad only spent that much cause my brother told him to. =/

After careful analysis of your text I have decided that it's all the baby's fault.
