going to use this to ramble for a few minutes because i feel like nobody Gets It

you do realize most people use drugs as a form of escape right? making people feel ashamed for turning to drugs by asking them questions like the things you just did isn't really going to do anything but make them use more frequently

people with low income use drugs more than any other group because they're a (comparatively) cheap fix for things like anxiety (and multiple other problems) which you're bound to have a lot of when you have a low income/are in poverty. because the society we live in is really messed up, healthcare is expensive as hell too, so being 'healthy' is usually not an easily realistic goal either

it's fine if you have enough social status to be privileged enough to have received education on the topic, but a lot of people don't have that kind of opportunity

i'm supposed to be taking like 5 different medications for anxiety and other things but because my family is unreliable and my health care doesn't cover a lot of things, smoking cigarettes is a lot easier to help me calm my nerves, and honestly i'd rather enjoy not going into a strange fit of anxiety caused psychosis and deal with the consequences later than be completely unable to function

obviously this will not apply to every single person who turns to drugs/cigarettes/alcohol, but i just feel like people should consider the fact that some people actually do have reasons to use other than being a Family Hater Baby Killer

do you love your parents and your family?
Of course I do.

I'm alive, am I not?

I smoke cigarettes and am doing just fine.
