Mercedes

Mercedes is the Queen of the Elves who have been put asleep by the Black Mage's curse together with her elf village. She reawakens in the present to join the fight against the Black Mage.

Character released in GMS on 19 December 2011.

Skill linking

Thunder Breakers and Mercedes are the only two classes in MapleStory who benefit from linking/chaining skills.

Benefits for linking skills are:
  • +3 Attack boost from Ignis Roar for each combination (Up to a maximum of 10 stacks)
  • Reduction of cooldowns for Spikes Royale and Wrath of Enreal (KMS)
  • Reduction of delays between skills
  • Some combinations yield 100% invincibility (Doesn't apply on bosses)

  • Lightning Edge + Rising Rush
  • Lightning Edge + Stunning Strikes
  • Gust Dive + Lighting Edge + Rising Rush + Aerial Barrage
  • Cooldown cutting with Leap Tornado: available after Lightning Edge and Gust Dive

Tips and Tricks

General:
  • Lightning Edge allows you to ignore and rush up some stairs (Feels like an escalator!)
  • Leap Tornado is usable in some jump quests
  • Mercedes' hair is a unique hair that is not obtainable by any means outside of character creation. Make sure to save it in the Salon before changing it to something if you do not want to lose it forever!

Bossing:
  • Lightning Edge debuff on Magnus allows you to be invincible from his rush/charge skill
  • Using Spikes Royale when magnus spins around in one spot, prevents you from being knockbacked. Note: This may be related to the recent change to Spikes locking in your horizontal direction and may not work in a future patch.

Capping Boss%
Keep it lower than 300%.

The key is to balance your Boss% with Att% at the ratio of 10:3.

Using this calculator with 20%TD from Link skills and 100% crit:
  • 0% Boss, 0% Att: 17333.25%/s
  • +20% Boss: 18660.58%/s
  • +9% Att: 18893.24%/s
  • +30% Boss: 19324.25%/s
  • +12% Att: 19413.24%/s

Considering links skills and nebs(155% boss), you'll need 46.5%Att (KMS 1.2.227: 60%).
200% Boss: 60%att (KMS 1.2.227: 73.5%)
250% Boss: 75%att (KMS 1.2.227: 88.5%)

Skill Point (SP) Guide

Most skills are able to be maxed before the next job advancement, however it is recommended to focus on passives, damage increasing buffs then attacking skill. Please note you are not able to max one skill each in 2nd Job and 3rd Job advancement.

2nd Job Advancement


Take care not to max Piercing Storm as it will be replaced by Stunning Strikes in 3rd Job.

3rd Job Advancement


You have a choice not to max either Gust Dive or Aerial Barrage.

Gust Dive - Damage: 195%, Number of Attacks: 3, Max Enemies Hit: 6
  • Continues to have uses even after hitting 4th Job Advancement.
  • Receives a 50% damage increase from Lightning Edge (KMS), so increasing the base damage is beneficial.

Aerial Barrage - Damage: 105%, Number of Attacks: 6, Max Enemies Hit: 8
  • No use after 4th Job Advancement.
  • Gives +15% damage to Rising Rush, which is used more often than Gust Dive.
  • Rising Rush can be split up into just the lifting component (KMS). More damage required to make up for the loss of rush component, although it is only a starter for skill chaining combinations.

Evaluating the frequency of use and damage differential, selecting either would not make you any worse than the other. To best mediate this issue, it is recommnded to acquire the Leafre Monster Codex Set to receive +1 Skill level.
