Basil, what do you think of this Generation?

Well, pretty much the Title.
You know, with 2nd graders trash talking big kids and no more of those 2nd graders who always think ''I shouldn't get to close or they might beat me up..''. All this ''Swag'' and ''YOLO'' crap. All the events that had happened.

i dun rly like this generation much, the majority label others based on first impressions, they all stick to their group of friends unwilling to meet other people. not to mention, homophobia, and sexism are widespread to where i live in. alot are acting immature, blah i cant list more reasons to why i hate it. connected due to technology.. mehh.. you dont really see the people in person though (unless ur webcamming)

@SoggyToast: Racism sexism and homophobia are still as prevelent, people just do not admit to it as often anymore.

Also, don't you think its embarassing that the US, supposed super power of everythangz, is ranked around 20 in terms of education?

My main concern is the sense of entitlement.

It's interesting and frightening from a business perspective. I work for a huge multinational corporation, and there's literally training classes for managers to deal with the self-centered, entitled nature of young employees. It's one of the main reasons it's simply better to hire someone a bit older with a better, more productive outlook. Not only will someone from a previous generation have more experience, but they tend to have a better work ethic and accept responsibility for their decisions.

The open-mindedness is probably one of the largest pluses. However, that's not unique to this generation, it was a trend started long long ago and is simply continuing.
Much better than any previous generation.
I hate how kids these days wish that they lived "back in the days", of the 60's or whatever.
100 years ago, you'd be lucky to have reached your 15th birthday, 50 years ago, women and blacks were still being prosecuted, AIDS was prevalent etc. Not many people went to school, or got an education. Jobs paid poorly. Wars were everywhere.
You should be lucky that you're living in a world with such amazing technological and medical advances.
The 90s.

Even though there's a large amount of lady part cleaners in this generation, there's an equal amount of really cool people. It's just that the people that are really cool don't get a lot of attention, because everyone only talks about the kids who make you feel like "ugh, this generation is so crap" and "ugh, kids are getting stupider and stupider."

Black people are still prosecuted to some extent. Aids are still prevalent now.

I think it's good they're not afraid of the big kids. Gives the big kids less power.

@bottom : But it's not nearly as bad now.

we've achieved a lot. but the overall mindset of students is degrading. at some point in history, it was a privilege to be able to go to school, a privilege to know how to read and write, and a privilege to be able to vote. now many of my fellow peers do not pursue academics because they don't have a hole to dig themselves out of; growing up in first world conditions has given students the feeling that "everything is okay, I'm living a decent life under my parents, I'm covered". people don't have the drive to boost their chances of success and breaking their societal tier because there simply isn't a challenging predicament in front of them.

and considering politics, it is quite a shame that many students do not have an ounce of knowledge about their government. people worked hard to give women and minority groups voting rights, but now you will be hard pressed to find a student that can name a political candidate they support and the views the candidate has. to put it simply, the problem with this generation is ignorance that is born out of laziness and apathy rather than an inability to receive an education.
Besides the part about technology, I could not disagree more.
-Racism, sexism, and homophobia have gotten a lot less at large. We still need some work, but they're not nearly as rampant as they used to be.
-Our IQs have been increasing with every generation in a lot of countries (called the Flynn Effect). Younger generations are smarter than the previous generations.
