You're only at a higher risk of getting kidney stones from creatine if you're predisposed to getting kidney stones (if you have a family history of it), if you don't then you're fine.

Problems can arise if you don't cycle, so make sure you're cycling as well.
I agree with @oSnowy. In the first year your gains are so quick that there's not really need for creatine or anything else.
What you can do if you are skinny is bulking. You basically eat a lot of food with proteins in it so you gain more mass and you can turn that mass into muscles.
If you already have enough mass and you want your muscles to be more visible you can cut, that means you basically eat less or different than the way before so you lose mass. I would suggest you to train without anything for the first year and then see from there. I train for like 3-4 months now and I'm gaining a lot of muscles without anything. I'm 16 years old and when I started I was like 66kg and now I am like 70kg. It's ironically because my body fat percentage is lower than my friends but yet I weight way more than them, some of them are even taller than me and older and they all take creatine or protein shakes.
i follow something similar to this.

If you don't care about your looks but just want more reps then maybe you can try it out.

Just drink lots of water (I drink at least a gallon or two a day) and u'll be fine. Creatine is good for working out; especially if you take it with protein as well. I blend my creatine and protein (separately) with berries, fruit, and a spoonful of ice-cream for taste. I add a little bit of milk in there, but I puke wen it comes to milk so I don't put much

I increased my max bench from 150 to 210 in 2+ years or so which isn't bad considering I can't gain fat or muscle as well as other people. Costs a $@!*load of money though

I cycle three months on, one month off
If you're just beginning, I wouldn't bother with it. I used it to help keep up with heavy training volumes when I was prepping for oly comp (e.g squatting 6 days a week, each of the classical lifts up to max single and then work sets from 85% - 95% of max 5 days a week, 2 - 3 training sessions a day). It will give you a few more reps, but doesn't translate directly into increased lifts. Don't expect lightning gains. Drink a lot of water.

Creatine does make you stronger and you can lift for more reps but you have to eat well.
It's good while your on a bulking cycle.
