do your parents know about your religion ideaology?

my parents are 'catholic' (which is very ironic since they are greedy, sometimes racist, and often steal things) they take me to church every week
and now in a hour. i, an atheist, have to go to church again -_-

i dont tell them because they'll probably send me to sunday school again and spend hundreds of dollars to some bullcrap conformation scam (or kick me out)

so do your parents know that you are an atheist or w/e?

*im not trying to start a religion war.

I'm Buddhist, and even though I barely understand anything when I go to temple, I believe in the system of reincarnation, karma and dharma, and the values.
I have had doubts about there being a god, and I see Buddha as a person who's on a whole other level of knowledge and understanding, and possibly transcended death,

I'm not atheist, I'm agnostic.
My parents are non-denominational Christians, they are fine with my agnosticism but would prefer it if I were Christian.

Oh and what were you expecting from the Catholic Church? Protestant > Catholic

I consider myself to be spiritual. I hate organized religion though. I don't think people appreciate this beautiful planet we live on. As far as science knows, this is the only planet we can live on so why do we destroy it? I believe this planet is our god, not looking up to the sky and talking to someone. That's just silly.

Yes my parents know and they don't care. They're not religious in the least bit so we all get along fine.

They know but they feel like sending me off to church will "get me on the right path."

@Broccoleh: science>church, evolution>faith, organic molecules>god
viewpoints on the catholic church ok..
how about priests molesting little boys, homophobia,anti-abortions, no safe sex, controlling the masses by telling them if they don't believe in their faith they will burn in hell
CHURCH IS SUCH A GREAT THING

My Mom's a catholic, and she was actually pretty stoked that I told her I'm an atheist.
She was glad I was forming my own opinions and doing things my own way. Lawl.

My dad found out i didn't care about religion when I was 16 or so and he got slightly mad at me and tried to tell me that I needed religion (something about having someone to talk to, i don't really remember) I ignored him. Then my stepmom tried to take me to these Hindi temples and I always drug my feet and when I did go there I'd just stand in a corner and glare at everyone. Honestly don't see the point.

I am very religious and so is my whole family. We are all Christians, and we still have amazing lives. Those of you that have a very religious background and you aren't religious are missing out, or if it's the other way around even. If your family doesn't care about religion and you're religious then you won't know the feeling of how great it is to have a family that won't contradict each other. Yes we do fight but we still love each other and we most likely forget about the fight 2 seconds later. I'm just saying the family should have a bond in some way, not have an odd ball always kind of breaks the family apart. Also why do so many people think me being Christian makes me boring? I am a very nice, energetic, and FUN person to be around. We still have fun, we just don't do that crazy crap others do. I guess we are the oddballs in society o.o. I guess we just set people straight, not sure. I will admit, I am trying to find myself and it is a bit confusing but maybe that will change soon.

But yes my parents do know I'm religious. Oh, it also makes talking with them easier IMO. Some families have no problems talking without it being awkward, but some do.

They both know about it.
One of them accepts it, while the other insists upon instilling her beliefs in me.

I'm willingly Christian,

I always wondered why I believe in God and it all comes down to this.
God is nothing, I mean this in no bad way.
God was made up of nothing and in a way he is also everything.
People always argue that the Big Bang started the universe, but what made whatever started the Big Bang?
What made those gas clouds? Now I'm not saying the Big Bang is false, it actually seems reasonable, but what made those clouds?
Will we ever know? Probably not, but I chose that there is something that is greater then us that started this all,
something that came from nothing.

And to the Mr.@ZOMGitjon, you should just tell your parents.
Don't make them force what they believe onto you.
I hope you do whatever will make you most happy in your life,
they are your parents and if they are good parents they will accept you, no matter what.

You know this makes you sound 4, right? Don't make it sound like church is a bad thing. Even if you don't believe in it, it's your fault for not telling your parents, and who knows, maybe you need some guidance morally, looking at your viewpoints on church..

Well they didn't know I became somewhat apathetic/agnostic last year in a little time frame. Like I didn't even care about believing in a God or wanting to believe in a God.
However, I couldn't deny His existence, so, I went back to being a Christian. And it's also not because my parents believed it, not because my boyfriend believed it, but it's because I willingly believe it.
I'm still trying to piece myself back together, though.

Nope.
My Grandma is religious, and when my uncle told her he wasn't religious, she cried.
I'm not gonna do that.
