Help me make a decision

In last year August, where I first started college, it was one day I coincidentally bumped into a group of Marine officer candidates in the gym and we workout together and I told them I'm interested in knowing more about becoming a Marine officer. Well, my interest to the Marines already took place when I was still in high school. Having attend only one semester of NJROTC, I reluctantly having to drop that course in placement of SAT Prep to beef up my critical reading skills.

Few days later, I got called by my local Marine Officer recruiting office because one of the candidates that I workout with gave my number to them, and so I went there and I basically told them how I used to want to become Marines and blah blah blah, but for now I feel uncertain. So they gave me a deadline of January 15 to make the decision, which is next Tuesday!

Now, the biggest problem is, I'm not really a self-starter, like I should've spent time in researching about becoming a Marine Officer to see if I'm really interested in or not, but I just end up doing other useless stuff. Now, maybe most of you already know, I like stealthy stuff, such as ninjas, assassins, snipers, etc. And I also took a peek at the Military Occupational Specialty that Marine Officer could have, and I think the closest that interests me is Ground Intelligence Officer, even though I kinda dream to become a scout sniper, but unfortunately officers do not pull trigger, yet could serve as commanders of a Scout Sniper Platoon.

Now, the deadline is getting close, and I really don't know whether or not to take the path of a Marine Officer. I mean whether or not I get selected later if I do decide to go is a different story, but for now I'm uncertain if this is the way I want to go and later won't regret, or it could be ideal since I'm into intelligence/sniping stuff, who knows if 5 years later my interests would change or not.

Please help me decide.
Well, what you say makes sense, but the Marine Captain who's doing the OCS recruiting told me all officer candidates are going through The Basic School where they undergo leadership training and after that you need to go to another program (forget what's called).

But basically, he told me, if you're an officer, you can't tell your Marines to charge the front line if yourself are not willing to lead.

So I think being an officer is not as bad as it seems, though once again what you said makes sense.
Yeah, if your up for it, do it. Its well worth it, Officer or not.

Working on getting a perfect score for the PFT, and I use everything as a practice, whether going to school, work, or just everything in general.

if things suck, or didn't come as expected, I'll take it and handle it, because nothing sucks more than getting shot dead out in the field.

Suffer patiently, patiently suffer.

Yes I do, but as you know there are not many ninjas left in today's world, yet I would still practice ninjutsu while trying to do something more practical and meaningful career wise.
Im a senior in Highschool, once i get all of my paperwork ready, ill officially become a USMC poolee, for the regular corps, my ship time to bootcamp is next winter, and MOS is going to be 0311, or security forces. But honestly, i think officers should have their title earned, from starting as a grunt, i think no man who hasnt seen combat should command a man who has, just because they dont know what combat is actually like unless theyve seen it. but thats just a personal opinion, would you want to be responsible to leading your men into something they cant handle right when your duty takes effect?
@wilber You could tell them that you want to become a sniper and prove that you're good enough to become one.

Lol, I played too much FPS, and that's why I wanted to do something for real. Like becoming a real sniper instead of quick scoping someone across the map...
I dislike how you see life. Don't take it for granted.
I'm not, I just want to become part of something that's bigger than myself, but I'm not 100% sure if military path is where I wanted to go.
lol dont do it, i know someone who became one and died 2 weeks later
Death really doesn't mean anything to me to be honest, because I don't think I have a life yet, so why not just die for something more meaningful?

After all, I know Marines are one of the best people in the world.
