How to convince a friend to stay in school?
Serious thread. But ofcourse their is bound to be one person who believes that black people are born inferior/etc... Ehh.. >.> So post what you must then get the hell out of the thread please. :o This is serious.
My friend and I were Facebook chatting today and he brought up a stupid topic... He seriously asked me how it feels to be Asian. (I'm not Asian like eastern so why ask me such a question... pointless in my opinion) I replied "I don't know I'm not Asian, I'm a human being :o. Regardless, I am not East Asian... I just have a retarded accent. lol" He replied, "You are so lucky I wish I was Asian [b]BEING BLACK SUCKS SO MUCH YOU WOULDN'T UNDERSTAND WE STRUGGLE.[/b]" At this point I say I have to AFK for eating and come on here to ask for help. He has so much going for him too. .-. A smart guy really, 3.7 gpa w/ 9 ap classes so far (calc ab and bc, stats, physics b, c, chem, comp sci, econ, govt) and 1900 sat score. For most of his ap exams he got a 4 or higher except ap comp sci, he got a 3. Not too bad IMO. He wanted to do engineering in junior year. He's rank 7 or 10 (I don't remember) in my school, again that isn't to shabby.
I didn't know living in a first world country, with basic resources was considered a [i]"struggle"[/i] Just because you do not care about your education and want to pursue a career in music... I'm not saying that isn't wrong. But if you aren't talented and you fail for your own reasons that is your fault. I would never risk education for anything. With education atleast you can live at the minimal standards for society in order to survive. He hasn't dropped from high school yet but he's going to what should I say for him to stay in school. It would be a shame to see him drop and he's been there when I needed help. He wants to drop because he feels that music is calling him... also that he feels its the easiest way to make money. Also what can I say to make him feel better about himself... It would be a shame to see someone like him drop his education for music when he might not be talented enough to make it.
He is Jamaican... But he always... [b]ALWAYS[/b] has to freaking say but I'm part (insert pointless racial data like I'm part 5% chinese, 10% white, blahblahblah... >< He looks 100% black. xD
I am half Sri Lankan, half Haitian, born in the USA... grew up in SL and Malaysia... So I have this retarded accent... blargh T.T I look... weird o.O
Anyways help? How do I convince him to stay in school...? ><
