Mechanics are more built for bossing. I'm not very familiar with them but they're definitely more of a DPM class with supportive summons and etc.
Their portal setups and skills allow them more mobility than a Buccaneer, which is dependent on mobs to get around quickly.
As far as damage goes, they are quite potent and get a large amount of attack and damage buffs.

DPM charts aren't reliable nor should they reflect said scenarios realistically.
