How do people get those IGNs?
Popular IGNs and things of that sort. Like right now the IGN Naruto is in use by some lvl 27. How the F did he get it? o.O Nathan, some lvl 24, Jeffrey a lvl 24 also if iirc. Those are names that people would have grabbed since the beggining of maplestory. So how do these noobs have them now? and if they become inactive for whatever reason, are those names gone forever? Just curious~

Duh...they save the ign on a mule for like 10 years and finally use it on something good
HOnestly, I really dont care about names. I just wanna use epic skillz
@iNathanDrake
fang blade was active in bera a couple of months ago if youve been on basil
slickback i loathe seeing your face in PvP >.<
I wanted the IGN Worm.
MikeShinoda
personaly, i think the best igns are "Free" and "Zero" but theyre both already taken
There definitely should NOT be repeatable names in each world... that's so stupid. "Jason" in Windia and "jason" in Bera and so on, that would get really confusing number one, and number two, that makes the name a lot less special/unique. Especially if it wasn't a cookie-cutter boring name like "Jason" and something else, it takes away the creativity level.
And to the person who said they should remove users after ONE year of inactivity, you're stupid. TONS of people come back after one year of inactivity. Even two, or three. I think the only way to be safe is to remove users who haven't played since year one. That'd be a smart choice on Nexon's part just for the sake of cleaning up...
And lastly, to the guy who said level 30, 40, even 50 wasn't "pro" and that those levels were "easily" obtainable, you're ridiculous. I played then and I don't know how anyone got past 50 without dying of boredom. Not only that, but as someone before me said, the needs were not given to you. It was actually very difficult. I wouldn't say those were "pro" levels, but I wouldn't say they were noob either. I stayed around 35-40 for a looooooong time.
I have to agree with Poepie, If nexon deleted inactive players it would cost them money on the chance those players (like myself) decide to return after years of inactivity. Not to mention, I can't remember the last time Fangblade was on maple, can you imagine nexon deleting him? lol Bad idea.
Last Sunday. He was in FM1 CH1
Some people reserve ign for the futur like Liuminous or Kaiser character
Likely made right after the beta, and now they have either quit or still have the names reserved to sell or use for future characters.
Atleast Pokemon is taken by someone that's actually at a good level.
Back in the days, having numbers in your name was cool
It still is
nope
Maybe if Nexon were to contact the person, if not, it's their loss. It is better to satisfy a large portion of their current players, than some
characters who will be butt-hurt if their 'nostalgic' maple account was deleted - even if they quit.
Sounds sort of ironic, to be sad if you quit the game, does it not?
well, sad that you didn't play back then. just leave it at that.
a "large portion" of current players are fine with replacing L's with I's and O's with 0's. if you really want a "good ign" you can make one, dont blame older players for your lack of creativity

you guys didn't play back then did you
level 30 took a couple days at most if you didn't explore much (I understand that it was first char for lots of people and they took their sweet time exploring for a month before getting to 30). A day tops if you knew what you were doing (slime tree, pig beach, 20-30 ant tunnel 1-2)
A new character wouldn't even have the potions or mesos to efficiently train like that. They weren't given any weapons, armors, and very few potions from some quests which most people didn't know about because the quest lightbulb was non-existent. In some cases (notably Warriors), even getting to Perion to receive the first job advancement was a challenge.
Ikrrrrr a lvl 20 theif in scania has the ign julie >.<
In my opinion, they should remove all inactive in game name within a year or so !
If you care about an Ign, you are really stupid if you buy one for a big amount.
@TehResisting: 40 wasn't even pro, I'd say 50+ would be pro up until august 2005
but 30 was nowhere near pro because of ant tunnel and KPQ
myself and my friend both got 1-30 in a day without much effort, just know where the best exp is
@cocobenz Harder than now? Yes. Many people who didn't know this? Yes. People called level30+ pro? Yes. Atleast that did happen for me.
@BlackDynamite: The original SLICKBACK is blocked to be made for some reason, so my name is unique.
Theres a lvl 200 phantom named phantom in windia...

I saw a level 200 Charles the other day. Spelled the way you see it.
hmm, tbh i think we should all try and be a bit more imaginative with our ign's lol nathan
i stole 'friending'
? They made the char super early, levelling was hard, 30 was considered pro, they quit. The end o-o
Is this a serious question?
Back in those days, it's was pro to be level 30. Those so called noobs are acutally pros. Some others just trolling by stealing then igns and quit.
"Stealing" IGNs has nothing to do with trolling.
They just made an account, leveled to 2x, and quit. It's sad that such great IGN's are locked because Nexon thinks the guys that glanced at the game 5 years ago will come back.
It does suck -.- I want the IGN Shanks, some lvl 5x pirate girl has it -.- And Nathan lol.
what, a smart move?
A stupid move
Made after Beta.
I was suprised my name wasn't taken. I made this the day Phantoms came out
But the name Naruto used to be some lvl 1xx dude, and now its some noob T_T. Same goes for Nathan (My name) and some noob has the name now -.- wtfff lol
They probably did make those IGNs when MS was first released. And if I remember correctly, getting to level 27 wasn't exactly easy back then.

the original ''jeffry'' quitted or deleted his character
I wanted the ign Phantom, but some level 200 has it.
What a waste.
