Maplesword art online
Here is a scenario,
maplestory was made into a virtual reality game, and people were hooking up to the machines on the day it came out.
However, nexon decided that it will be more profitable if they trapped every player in ms and make it so that if you try to leave the game, your brain gets fried by the VR machine.
Also, if you die in the game, your brain also gets fried.
So basically, you are fighting for your life, and to leave the game, someone (or a group) must be able to beat Corrupted Empress Cygnus (I think she's the highest level boss).
Also, players can attack other players in maps more than 3 maps away from major cities. So miners, trainers, bossers, and the kind all have a certain amount of risk, not only from monsters, but from other players.
Which class would you pick?
Would you be a solo player or a party player?
Will you be generally good? evil? or neutral?
Good
You will join a guild or a group that is bent on beating the game and/or being helpful to other players and preventing PKs from taking place.
Order is your greatest virtue
Evil
You will be Player Killing for money, power, men (or women lol), or for the sheer fun of killing.
Chaos and . . .wait, you have no virtue
Neutral
Mining, crafting, forging, and merching (although merching borders evil) is your trade, and you will help either side, as long as you survive at the end.
Being neutral, doesn't mean being weak, you can freely choose to attack or help others.
Greed and character interaction are your favorite attributes.
UPDATE1: talk is cheap, lets say you found you godly weapon from a monster drop for your class and you now have a huge damage advantage towards your peers. Would you still be good/evil/neutral?
UPDATE2: for every little prick that says THERES NO MAGIC IN SAO LOLONEONE11, no crap Sherlock. but MSAO =/= SAO, and i certainly don't want to cut out all the magic using classes in ms. so why dont you buzz off.

A Dark Knight solo player on the evil side. Not a massacre kinda PKer, but I don't hold back when I want to kill. No women though. I'd never lay my weapon on a woman, just my hands.
People actually chose Evil, as a PKer? Pft, None of you have the guts to kill anyone(Or maybe I'm giving this too much of a serious thought).

Here's my run down. I'd be chaotic neutral. I'd never go out of line of the normal, but I definitely wouldn't pass a chance to get ahead in the game, even if it meant to do something bad.
I'd definitely be a Dark Knight. I love spears, Dark Knights have good access to health, and they definitely have some good party support.
I'd run a party to have power in numbers, I'd be with people I trust, and can support me.
We would definitely not stray to attack someone we knew we could take, provided there was gain to it.
I'd craft doing mining and armoring while my friends watched my back while gathering, I'd gear my party.
I'd also sell things I made not for profit, but for trust with other people, I like to play the sneaky fox approach.

sorry for butting in, but one thing I dont like in SAO is that the goodcharacters that are actually introduced are like, hene hoe cute status (cept the black guy 0_o) and most evil guys are like, beyond hidious ==

Yeah, I like how new antagonists actually take some time and considerable effort to deal with them in AW. Yeah that moment, and the moment when he first got his wings were pretty good. If he'd won that Physical Burst fight with the antagonist, I'd think it'd be too easy. Though the whole blackmailing part was a bit eh on the realistic side for the antagonist. I don't think he'd honestly have that much power over the trio (excluding Kuro).
@Yathos His Brain Burst avatar is different. He's metal-colored, so that's already rare enough. You didn't miss that part where Kuro was talking about the colors and stuff right? And he's not invincible - he's really weak against puncture? attacks, and a lot of the antagonists use that effectively against him.
Of course he can only kick ass when he's in Brain Burst (and he doesn't always kick ass - he loses quite a bit in pivotal moments) - he's a fat pig in real life.
Taku's backstory - idk about that; the anime glossed over it and I didn't get much of it. I think Taku was just mad about Haru bringing up the whole kendo thing, as he's been cheating nonstop using Brain Burst the whole time. Not to mention Haru got a [b]bit[/b] close to his girlfriend.

@RisingRain: I just want to make it clear that I haven't read the manga of either series and im currently on the lastest ep of each. So I'm judging each anime on what has happen thus far.
Ok the thing I have with Haru is that if the writers wanted him to be a 'different' why does Silver Crow have the prototypical protagonist physic and why is Haru only kicking ass when he is in Brain Buster? This is completely inconsistent on the writer's part.
Also with the whole friends thing, how does Taku turn evil then imediately switches back make any sense at all, if they are childhood friends. As for the relationship goes, like I said I don't have any manga knowledge and as far as I know Kirito x Asuna has the typical couple anime relationship.

And it's not exactly uncommon for a shut-in to have a few pretty close friends. Even all the shut-ins I know have a couple of really close friends.
Kuro falling for him was wish fulfillment for the author, I'll give you that. Except the author decided not to make it too unrealistic by having everything work out perfectly. Guess he learned something from writing SAO with Kirito and Asuna's "perfect" relationship.
@Demonlord The realism is what makes it more watchable than SAO. Though I wouldn't mind him having a few times when he gets [insert generic anime protagonist moment where he learns something and powers up for no explainable reason] to spice up the plot a bit.

The writers wanted to portray Haru as a loser who goes online and goes from zero to hero. They didn't have to go as far as turning into a Cartman. Also you talk about realism? How is it that a midget gets Taku and Chiyuri to be his friends and Kuro to fall for him? That is basically as unrealistic as it gets.

Explain #1, and #2 is actually somewhat realistic for a shut-in fat gamer nerd who has barely any social contact with anyone. His inferiority complex is annoyingly realistic, that's what I think. Sometimes I wish he'd just man up, but hey, he's getting better (somewhat...).
@RisingRain: I never thought "Haru gets all the crap he wants", I like the story of Accel World and it has a good pace so far, but I can't stand Haru for the following 2 reasons
#1 Writters completely over dramatized his character
#2 There are times were he PMS and goes complete emo mode.

I'd prefer a beta who actually has to work to get what he wants (Haru) than an alpha who has everything cut out for him (Kirito). The plot armor on Kirito is INSANE.

@TraceUserxBrawl: You might want to look up the definition of harem. The protagonist going from one girl to the next and ending with one. The girls are used as exposition to explain the mechanics of SAO or foil the protagonist's character/back-story. As for the plot holes, the main plot won't probably start until ep 12 or 13; also just because something is left out now and explained down the road, doesn't make it a plot hole...
I'm currently watching both and I prefer SAO, although Accel World has a more driven plot atm, but the character development is terrible.
Basically Accel World in a nutshell. Fat kids gets bullied => escapes to online world = > meets his dream girl = > Win. So cliche..
