Why do people insist on not maxing Mine?

Instead of dropping points from Mine, I'm dropping from Jaguar Roar.

I very very rarely use Jaguar Roar. The only thing I use Jaguar Roar for is to push back monsters, and it does so since level 1.

Adding more points into it simply adds more damage. That is totally useless because you can just Ricochet the monsters after stunning them! In fact, Ricochet does MORE damage than Roar! Why waste points?

Mine, on the other hand, can FINISH OFF monsters! If you did a sloppy job of clearing a platform there's always the chance that Mine can finish them off. And there are times when extra 35%/20% damage does kill the monster when level 13/16 mine does not.

So why in Merlin's name are people maxing Roar? D:

Poeple who have not gotten to 4th job dont know this, but mine is 100% useless when your using wild arrow and slash n dash. Also you need rawr because you need to k/b monsters, because when you take a hit while using wild arrow you stop to flinch.

It seems more of a preferrance then anything else.

I did mines cause I never use Rawr. I don't regret my decision. Rawr is still level 16, so if I did have to use it, its not missing many points.

Both pointless abilities that you won't use if you farm correctly with ricochet.

You can max either, they won't help you anyway.

I am a LV108 Wind hunter, and I never, ever, ever, ever use 'It's raining Mines!'

After I reached 3rd job, I realised how un-necessary it is to put it in my macro. It wastes precious seconds that could be used killing the monsters that Mines generally will finish off. I almost always use Jaguar Rawr because of its pushing ability and strong damage.

Trust me, it really isn't worth it in the long run. I had doubts in the past, but I don't now.

Because maxing Jaguar Roar increases the KB and stun time by a lot. It's the only attack that we have that allows for a 100% stun rate. On the other hand, using Mine is unreliable since the monster you didn't bother to send a Ricochet back to (which would probably do more damage than Mine) may not die from the mine. That makes the skill completely useless. Also, it seems like a rather bad training strategy to not kill off monsters and rely on chance.

lol, wat above said and also,
when you drop a mine you are unable to shoot any arrows. since the guy drops mines every 2 seconds i find it very annoying that i have to wait for him to drop the mine and then start to ricochet the mob. i don't even cast mine anymore

Mine is an extra skill that has a chance of killing the enemy, Roar is something you have to cast in order to keep enemies off you. Additional damage on that has the chance of reducing the amount of hits you have to use. It's essentially the same thing, but Roar is something you have to do anyways.
