And I melted my charger

So my dad's (not really, I've been using it for as long as I can remember) Macbook charger just kicked the bucket as a result of the wire melting or something, and I want/need a new one as soon as possible. So I've decided on two approaches to this problem. One is to order/buy a new charger myself, while concealing the fact that I melted the charger as a result of my own foolishness (I leave it in the outlet all the time), and get rid of the melted one when the new one comes. The advantage of this is that I'll get a new charger, but I'll be spending my own money. The other approach is to tell him that I melted his charger, endure his wrath, and have him most likely order a new one grudgingly while chastising me the entire time. This way, I won't be spending a dime, but I would get yelled at profusely and endure crushing disappointment (okay, I'm exaggerating a little). No, my parents are not asian.
I could order the new charger right now if I wanted to, but I want your opinion first. Thanks.
First off, parents shouldn't yell at you for breaking something as little as a Macbook charger, so I honestly wouldn't say it's a big deal.
Think of what he did last time you broke something. Would you rather pay to avoid the conflict, or tough it out? Given that I probably don't know what your parents are like, you should just break it to him and explain.

If the scolding wasn't that bad last time, you should just tough it out since money seems like an issue here.
Money isn't too much of an issue here, and to be honest, I'd rather pay 50-80 dollars instead of being yelled at/lectured to by my Dad. His lectures that he always gets into, while relatively moderate, annoy the hell out of me and I would give any amount of money to not hear them.

If you aren't saving up for anything and have some money to burn, buy it and then tell him you bought it with your own money. If not then just take everything he has like a man/woman.
