Is a thorns mule a useful thing?

So I've gotten pretty decent at getting characters to around 120, give or take a few levels. I now have a 120DrK HB mule, my 148 HS/Genesis-leave-me-alone-don't-KS-me-please mule, and a 110 Speed Infusion Mule in addition to my main Sair.

I was thinking that I need to make some sort of SI mule. Unfortunately, I don't like the idea of making a bowman just for SE, so I was thinking about making a Dual Blade Thorns mule.

I have more than enough NX to afford the books- in fact, I like the idea of cash shop books since I can't afford the regular 4th job mastery books.

As far as I can tell, thorns seems like a decent alternative to SI. I also think Dual blades would level a lot faster from what I've seen of them.

Any drawbacks to making a DB as a level 129-ish thorns mule for my 'main' characters? It seems easily 2-3X faster and cheaper than a Bowman for SI...

Thanks!

you get max hb before 50[/quote]

Heh, good question! Well, he ended up gaining so much XP from acting as a mule to all my other characters, that he just slowly but surely leveled up. Kinda like my Bishop- I played him full-time until his 90s, but then stopped. However, he just naturally got to 120 by being a HS mule. Then once I got him to 120, I went ahead and put a point in Genesis for fun and got to 140s super fast. (Silly overpowered Genesis!)

@jeetviral Ehh, it's just a hobby. 4X for 3 hours on Sat and Sunday early morning before my family gets up and I go for my morning jog. Possibly participating in 2X events on weekend afternoons is the baby is napping and I have nothing else to do.

Once you're on 4X, it's strange how fast you can actually get a character up in levels- it takes a lot less time than I imagined when I first started playing.

Already got that mule, that was my project over the last couple weeks, now I want some sort of mule for critical damage.

I'd like the decent SE idea more if it wasn't for me needed to cube high level gloves... Those wouldn't help me level up a new character until they hit 120. Whereas some sort of SE/Thorns mule would be useful no matter what class I decided to be playing at the moment. (Wild archers when they come out, Mechanics when they get released, etc...)

@iamanewb Yeah, that's why thorns seems so enticing. I just want to make sure it's actually worth having. If it doesn't help party members much or something, then that's a lot of waster 4X and time...

It seems insanely expensive to cube, so that's the main drawback. Also, I love my high attack work gloves that I just share with whatever character I'm playing at the moment. I'd hate to give up that extra attack for SE if a mule would do the trick...

Also, would it be as 'good' as thorns from a damage-boost perspective?
