GMS is too easy, its boring

Before Europe got its own server on GMS we didn't have weekly 2x events, and 2x split up 3 times a day Sat-Sun was unheard of to say the least.

We were lucky to get 2x events once or twice a month at best.
KMS doesn't even have 2x coupons as far as I know, or they don't work after 200, or something like that.

Why is GMS soo easy?
Isn't it kind of embarrassing to know that the developers have to dumb the game down in terms of difficulty for its players to cope?

MMORPGs are supposed to be lengthy, the grind is a major factor of any such game, but at level 212 now I get 30% in just a couple of hours on 2x events, in 2014 in EMS that took me 1.5 - 2 days at best.
Its not really a rant as much as it is frustrating and embarrassing being forced to play this game on super-easy mode. I wish Nexon at least left the EU server alone and didn't pamper us with 2x events 6 times a week.

The non-success of the EU server was probably why it had to be merged with GMS. There probably wasn't a choice in that matter.

In one sense, the old MapleStory was incredibly grindy and training can be a bit of a bore for some. To make the game faster-paced by reducing the EXP curve, having 2x events, burning events, etc. allows for some people to maintain that interest - not everyone will think of this as boring. On the other hand, however, the argument can be made that such changes as mentioned might attract in newer players, but makes it a bit tricky for older players to stick around who may be disenfranchised that they had to put in that amount of effort, only to realize that their efforts may be for naught.

So, to not make certain changes to the game and to not hold those events might deter some from ever playing for an extended period of time, and making those changes will also deter others. It's not exactly win-win for Nexon, either way you look at it - and even trying to come from that perspective of EMS players, it's not quite unanimous on whether or not the game has gotten easier or even harder.

yea developers have dumbed down this game so bad i got my v-matrix boosts to level 50 and all arcane symbols to level 15 in few hours of 2x also got to 240 smh super-easy mode

Yup EU sucked thats why it died, now you live here live with it.
In the good old days you could get 12x exp and drop and it was hella fun

@andreaverilia: Well EMS had the same as GMS in, and in places we lacked (gollux, etc) we had Veracent and other stuff.

In reality EMS didn't work because (A. lack of advertisement. (B. Language differences (Only 20% of Europe speaks English as a first language). And (C. Most Europeans don't fall for cartoonish games like these, its more FPS and sports.

@animus: MapleStory was for casual gamers, if 250 is the end-level, it could have been reached in 1 year casually training. Not a few months.

Yeah I am stuck with GMS, I like MapleStory I just think it is poor decision to force players from a completely different culture and continent to play something that has clearly been too simplified and doesn't match EMS (or any other Maple version)'s standard.

@pilox: Err...that's exactly my point. MMORPG is going to be easier as the time goes by so that the casuals who want to spend the least time to reach the "top" but later complain about it being too easy / has nothing else to do and yet raged when there's any foetus form of difficulty starting to surface, will stay. MMORPG sort of has things like, cakewalk journey, pay wall (either by time or money, usually both) for endgame content anyway. There's a reason I stay far away from this genre now. It's literally a pile of faeces. Nothing like the good old MMORPG experience will become a thing now anymore thanks to the casual demands.

Global MapleStory is a 2D sidescrolling mmorpg with adorable anime-style customizable characters (originally) aimed at children under the age of 13, and is known for being a Free-to-Play Pay-to-Win casual grindfest, with a culture of the East which is more in favor of cute things, trying to sell itself to a side of the world where cute things are seen as childish and one side is more in favor of violence and the other more tolerant of sexual topics.

No I'm not embarrassed about playing easymode. I'm actually thankful I don't have to spend as much time or money on this game compared to KMS.

Also these 2X events come and go, they're just here because we're getting major updates way too fast from KMS, which also explains the 3rd Burning event this summer.

As for easy in general, Nexon releases and hypes up their 5th job content available to only lv200+ players. OF COURSE they're going to make it easier to reach that level, ESPECIALLY for new and returning players ESPECIALLY to a gaming community that is much smaller than their larger counterparts. "Hey remember that game you used to play? You can get super awesome skills now and access to new places but only if you managed to reach lv200!"

I too think maple is too easy, but your suggestion makes it out to be easy and tedious. No thanks, I stopped playing because Nexon tried that cube stuff and only returned when I learned cubes are much easier to gain for free, knowing how RNG they are.

I treat maple as a casual game, if I wanted something harder I would play something else, because I know MapleStory won't change, this formula they have seems to work best, at least for KMS which is all that matters to them anyways.

What's stopping you from playing a PS anyways?

Hello, I know your post is more of a rant, but I want to know specifically why you want a longer grind time. It seems like less of a necessity if you are getting the same game-play. Is the longer grind a necessity necessary for you? If so, why?

@wolfexe: Grinding on Maplestory usually doesn't engage many areas of the brain unless perhaps you're playing a relatively challenging class for the first time. Otherwise, it doesn't require much engagement or focus. So yeah, grinding isn't something one may consider difficult. Though perhaps it could be challenging/tedious if you're not having fun while training a link mule or something.
