In my opinion in the really long run mixed is better due to I think level 150 equips being with the set effect and being able to be used with tyrant or something like that. The empress shoulder is coming out soon I believe which will allow dojo and empress which in my opinion is better than mixed as of now.
With the new OP equips out, if you have the funds that is, it is most likely the best to go do mixed. Also for thieves, Top + Bottom is better than one overall. You can get like 15-27% more luk just by wearing the bottom and top.
If you don't have much funding then you probably should just use the events to your advantage and get the sets there.
If you have decent funding then probably just go with empress.
If you are like me, just get the equips along the way.

I think a very good set would be: Empress hat (has base atk, a lot of base stats 3rd tier) Top Bottom with % Nova shoes with some % (3 or more) Nova cape (3% or more) weapon: Just do a loveless or maybe VIP if you like it to be tradeable dojo gloves
This combination can be switched for tyrant if you have nice funds

Keep an extra empress set on-hand for chaos bosses, cancel potential will force you to rely on set effects.
