Old community was still bad, though probably Quasar only have bad memorie of gotting ksed many times.

I played it for the game. The community was a bonus, then I realized how bad it was. There were nice people, but there were mean people. The nice people left. I had a friend who wasn't honest with me and ignored me. It pained me a bit, but I understood her feelings somewhat. I had a friend who seemed to accept me, and that's when I realized what I was missing and that my interactions with people were garbage. Then that turned to crap. My interactions with people and myself can be painful, often depending on my mood. The only reason I had played the game for as long as I did was because I had ambitions for it. But I'm too sane. Those ambitions were meaningless, and so was playing the game. The best part of the game and the community is that I learned of people's intentions and nature and somewhat my own.

I miss:
1. The feeling of progression upon leveling.
2. The feeling of accomplishment at reaching a new job level.
3. Non-rng based progression.
It's the whole "carrot and stick" shtick. Nexon gives you a bunch of carrots and the only stick is locked behind a pay wall. Then you get the stick and get beaten like a wretched mule and don't get any carrots and you're out 500$.

Best Days of Maplestory:

For me it was over when I realized that you either had to pay a lot of money or play for an extreme amount of time in order to get anything done. Bosses that have hella HP are solo'd in seconds now, and a player like me, who just wants to play casually, can no longer get hooked.

Game takes less skill now, and much more range. Not that appealing. That and the community shrunk.
