Man you must be unlucky i went at level 5 and I was 3 hit koing them.
110-120 R&J PQ with HS. You'll get there easily and if you want you can stay there until 130, when you have a fair amount of sp into your 4th Job skills.
FYI: I went to LHC@110.

Squishiness will always be a problem for mercedes. Do partyquests; They will make your leveling much easier.
I'm 132. I still don't train at lhc. It's always full there. I think I went once at 128 to solo one crocky then I left.
Neo city is a really great place to train at 125-135. Soloing the bosses there gives very decent exp, not to mention the mini boss apsul.
I'd say this is what you should do from 110 if not lhc.
110-115 death teddies
115-120 vikings
120-125 blue dragon turtle
125-135 start your silent crusade chain quest and neo city quests
135-150 solo zak, pap. I'm assuming you have enough range for a 20 minute solo. Move deeper into leafre.
150-160 ToT
160+ Sell leech at lhc, join SH, boss
Always went at 110 on every character.

Erm my marksman is doing just fine, but she has about 4k HP (added bonuses from character chards). I will admit that training can be frustrating if you get 3hko'd, but it's either be on your alert at all times, or settle for a worse training ground.
