Exactly what do you use for the general term for a homo sexual person/ bi sexual/ trans?

Well often on the news just "gay" is used.
Edit: I guess to not waste time.
Home sexual...?
In an average conversation, I'd use the word gay. Sometimes homosexual. In an essay or something I'd use homosexual, but if it's not that serious, I'd use gay.
bisexuals are bisexuals
homosexual or gay covers gay and lesbian
transsexuals are transsexuals
there's not really a single term for every one of them
Depends on the situation and who I am speaking to. To be PC I use "LGBT". But when I am writing essays etc, I use homosexual.
