I assume most of us here are students in high school or college/university. How do you college/university guys manage your time between studies and work? I have never studied and worked at the same time, but I want to start looking for a part-time job this semester. How are your experiences like? Do you sometimes struggle to keep up with school? Is it a piece of cake? How much free time do you get in a week?

Just wanted to get other peoples' opinions on studying while working, and how they manage their time, and to also give some tips on how to succeed. My time management is not that great, so yeah. I just want to read some personal real-life stories on your experiences with balancing your time between studies and work.

@xronellx: Well at my place they pretty much ask for my school schedule and then they ask me to fill out an availability form based on that for every semester. I have some medical conditions so they are a bit lenient with me because they know that I wear thin pretty easily. They try to call me in if they know I have the time, but since I'm not obligated to work on certain days I don't always respond to them.

I'm trying to start my work study job, but I need to go back home and get my birth certificate.
And the guy who hired me is EXTREMELY socially awkward, or something, because he didn't even clearly explain what I'd be doing. He said that I could come in "whenever I want", and I'd be "sitting over there *he points at front desk with one spot with a kid already sitting there*". So how am I supposed to know when someone is already working there? Like what?

Anyway, I was almost an accident that I got the job, because the first time I went in there to simply ask about it, they essentially hired me, and I was confused and it was strange.

Also, I have between 12 and 9 hours to study every day, plus the whole weekend, so I don't understand how other people need ALL that time for studying. The most I've studied (a.k.a. done homework) was for like 3 hours in one sitting.

At first it was really overwhelming for me trying to balance out everything but, using a calendar app on my phone has definitely helped with being in school, working, and volunteering. After organizing everything I found I had more time than I thought before. It gets really tiring still here and there but we just have to keep trying our best to keep up with it all.

I honestly don't have time to do work and school.
I'm in class all morning and afternoon, then I try and do some theatre work or school work, then I have rehearsals, then more theatre work or school work.
Then on weekends if I'm in the middle a show I will be in rehearsal 10-12 hours plus doing my own work for the show before and after so I'm in the theatre about 16-18 hours.
If I'm not in tech for my own show then I'm probably the master electrician for another show. Or I'm in the library all day studying for exams.
Now I'm trying to pursue theatre so I'm literally ALWAYS going to be involved with 1-2 shows at any given time on top of being a chemistry major which is one of the hardest majors at my school.
On average I get 4 hours of sleep if I'm lucky. I don't have like any substantial free time so when I do occasionally get it, I try and study and catch up on assignments.

Theatre + STEM = the largest time suck. But I love what I do, so I can't complain. I just wish I had more time to make money. I try to make hella money over breaks and budget for the semester.
