Okay, after reorganizing my 3rd job points (oh god another 100+ points to go...) I'd like to make my unpopular but timeworn argument for not maxing PR, & either maxing or keeping Comp at least at the 2-second freeze margin. The 2-second freeze is great for controlling the front line of your mob-- in 4th job when mobbing with CL, you can't count on Tele Mastery's stun and you sometimes end up teleporting headfirst into the mob you're trying to CL. and TS doesn't have a 100% stun.

What the single-target freeze does: it gives you time to position yourself properly to move & attack wherever you want, because if the monster closest to you in the mob you're trying to attack is frozen, then you have a clear idea of what the distance is. Since people are leaving Cold Beam out of their builds more and more often (and to think, back in 2006, we almost HAD to go Cold Beam first for efficiency!), Comp is the only method of getting a guaranteed ranged single target freeze. Unless you want to play with using Ice Strike to freeze single targets.

Also, PR is STILL pretty useless in general training situations. I say this even as a bossing I/L, because I do train.

But that's just my 2 cents.

Lol. I guess that's the advantage of having the skills reset at 3rd job. I just gave up on thunderbolt, pretty useless now. And I can keep my cold beam. :B

So far, I really haven't found a use for a 1v1 freezer. Not in training (and definitely not bossing). I don't know, but having previously maxed Composition and very much regretting it; I do not see the purpose of getting a skill I never used before, and now with all these stunning skills (pun intended) the purpose of a 1v1 freezer seems even less important. This is just me though. However, I will add an alternative build to max out Composition/Cold Beam in 3rd job for those of you who do like 1v1 freezers. I think it's only fair to have a little variety and provide a build for those who are willing to sacrifice Partial Resistance for a freezer. Just give me some time to get around to editing it in. :]

PR and Magic Armor are actually useful now? :O If it was useful I'll drop thunderbolt because I don't use it anymore and CB maybe once in a while for strategic reason

PR isn't really useful either, but I find it better to have a reduction of damage that I take at bosses/RoR than to get a skill I'll never use. Similar logic applies to Magic Armor vs. Energy Bolt.

I think magic armor is awesome. 120 right now which is great, 225 after the patch. 225 is a lottt as welll. That's like 2 Targa hats (for W.Def anyway).
Anyway, anybody got any idea if Nexon's doing something about this Ice Strike? or are we just gonna be stuck with a skill that is about 10 levels less than what it should be? (looking at it relative to the old 30 mastery level) I have to say this really stinks.

@Kalemora Thanks for the openmindedness. I personally can't get used to partial-chance stuns (especially after experiencing my ranger's pre-BB Hawk which was supposed to stun almost 100% but stiiiiill got me killed a few times), which is definitely why it's a to-each-their-own thing.

And on that note...ANOTHER TEXT WALL ;~;

I boss half the time & train half the time, so I'm struggling to come up with a hybrid build. I've been clearing ToT, and here's what happened so far-- I threw 5 into Infinity and then I stopped with 37 points left, and thought about it.

At first, I thought: I'm probably going to max out Infinity & dump the rest of the points into BB, because with lv1 BB I came to the realization that the thing is SO OVERPOWERED. Fully charged lv1 BB does more total damage per monster than my first hit of lv29 CL, and because I have a critical ring, the crit kicks in more often because it's multi-hit.

but BB is also *slow* and even though it may hit hard, you technically don't *need* it with CL at full power when maxed. So I could get ID + Elquines, since Elquines is useful as passive damage for bossing *or* training and the freeze is useful in training, too.
HOWEVER multi-hit BB, being that strong and also letting critical activate more, could also be useful in bossing situations. Since CL is single-hit, and could be limited by the damage cap (hey, a lot of us are gonna hit it), a high level of BB with 5 lower-damage hits would deal more accumulated damage. But, then again, it takes a while to charge to full capability.

...so I dumped into ID + Elquines. but what do you guys think? (holy craaaaaap BB is SO RIDICULOUS I love it to bits)

I'm considering just making a change to kirbyhyper's build so that the 11 "free" points may be added into Cold Beam to gain the 2 second freeze that Cold Beam gives at level 11 without having to give up Partial Resistance (which you would have to do to get 16 Composition for the 2 second freeze). Another thing to note would be that while Cold Beam is weaker in raw damage in comparison to Composition, Cold Beam is resettable with Elemental Decrease unlike Composition and (if they ever get fixed) is affected by Elemental Weapons unlike Composition. Possibly faster casting as well (don't quote me on this, I've yet to test the new animation, and Fiel's delay guide fails to mention Cold Beam's casting speed ;_. Would this change be acceptable to you, rather than adding a whole new build?

Also, once I get the build that allows for a 1v1 freezer up; I think I'll be deleting that second build for 2nd job. MPE is just too important to skip out on right now.
