while or after i play video games, i feel like i totally wasted my time (its not like people will know about my achievements on steam, etc)
i could have been doing something more productive like practicing guitar

I don't see how it's much different than watching a movie, or reading a book.
You're making decisions and such that can slightly or greatly alter the outcome of a story being told. Doesn't have to be a grand tale of epic proportions, but it's still putting your brain to use more than if you were watching a movie of higher caliber.

sad_trombone.wav At least u piitb when u dine greek yeah?
I play video games because it's very fun. It keeps me inside the house safe from the outside world. Not a really good reason. I feel like the games I like to play went downhill a lot, but I still play.
I'm too ugly to get girls. So I play video games and buy escorts.
do u even gfe bro?
Because they are a part of my life that I never plan to let go. Also all the friends I've made and am still making.
Just need to know when enough is enough and not let them rule your life. I know I won't let that happen again.
Actually false.
Maybe you are a teenager and you don't know but in adulthood (age 21 to 35) the females are interested in video games.
Not crap video games either, no MMOs, no FPS, nothing like that, these girls are into the controllers still and like to sit on the TV.
I have tried and it works.
Tell them a good game, tell them to come over to play it, let them play, they get tired, tell them you have a bed, they get all excited for some odd reason, and you end up being happy (and have that "what the hell just happened" feelling) the next morning.
I love how this reads like some nerds fantasy. "No crappy games either like FPS" LOL yeah okay.
well sometimes in LoL when we lose a game and no one was trying than i will consider that as a waste of mah time.
i play because i want to...?
?
When comparing, for example, an hour of piano playing (which I completely suck at btw) and an hour of Maplestory playing, I'll look back on the piano playing with a lot more high regard and regret playing the Maplestory. If that makes sense.
You can talk to bishes about TV shows. Much less so with vidya games. Dumb argument/10
You must be doing it wrong all da guurls n booiiis are.flocking around me
Well for many reasons, mainly:
1. my dad influenced me.
2. it's my escape from reality, basically.
well playing video games is really fun and I don't consider having fun a waste of time
Only if I don't find the game fun at the time, I would consider that I wasted my time. There are times where I don't think I wasted my time, but I think I could have done much better with my time if the game was mediocre.
@WontPostMuch: You can also talk to them about things that are more important...
If you have to fall back on conversations about a TV show you must not be a very interesting person and might not be able to carry a conversation
Edit: @Deciduous: When I think of Games as an Art Form I usually think of things like journey
I mean, it's much more versatile to watch TV shows than play a video game. Obv if TV is all you can talk about there is a problem but my point still stands.
@meosuke: well i think people still don't use games as art much
they are great ways to present stories, characters, and stimulate our minds in interesting ways though.
I hate when people say video games are the biggest waste of time ever when they sit on their asses all day and just watch TV.
At least video games require some thought
i really enjoy good games
and it's fun to talk about them/share experiences, even experiencing a game with someone else
it's no less productive than plenty of other hobbies.
because it's fun.
To fill the empty void in my heart.
@breakerz: having a level 200 character aint gonna help me with girls
I only ever play Paper Mario (srs) I don't play more than an hour per day though, so no care about the time spent.
To have fun.
What's the difference between practicing maplestory and guitar?
Maplestory is useful...in some ways.
I only feel like I've wasted time when I play for more than 2 hours straight
I guess I've wasted my whole life.
too pass time in a "fun" way.
