Buying "North American" Vehicles

Hello Basil

I dont know where you guys come from, but where im from, which is near detroit, the topic of car brands is very touchy.
Alot of people can be upset if you dont buy an "american car" as compared to lets say, a japanese car.
They say this kills the economy because japanese workers are being paid our money.
I currently own two vehicles:
A 2009 Honda Accord
And A 2009 Pontiac Wave

The funny thing is, my Honda is made right here in Canada, whereas my Pontiac is made in South Korea. (Im not dissing south koreans!)
Yet people say "EWW a Honda!"

(Note: this may be different depending on your region)
**Yea i guess this isnt common anyplace else, mabye its because we've gotten alot of layoffs here in Windsor

Omigawd :> You remember. I feel special.

OT: Hm, I guess it could be a regional thing then. I don't really recall my Windsor friends commenting on it, but I'll try and catch onto them if they do have...what you're talkign about.

I'm sure it is. Maybe they have factories in other countries?

New Zealander's car purchases aren't too big. We don't make a big deal if someone's car is from another country - I'm sure we already get a big income from tourism.

Windsor, AKA canada-detroit

And to first commenter, yes the brand is japanese, but the car is made in canada
I lived in the Detroit area aswell. I don't know where you're getting that topic from, it may just be in your area. When my dad worked for one of the Big 3 before they collapsed, we owned a couple of Hondas. It was basically just a car, I didn't really think brand mattered that much in Motown. We often joked about us owning foreign cars but it was nothing serious where people would actually diss us for not "supporting" the economy.

@HolyMythos : I'll just say I lived in Oakland County.
