So my laptop cant handle diablo 3 or will it be fine?

you need to have a 2.84 ghz processor... I have a 1.83 ghz one.. but I fill out all the other requirements for the game. So do I need to buy a new laptop to play the game or will it be fine?

@djpinc19: Thanks for the info but i wouldnt consider it threadjacking if all his questions were already answered. I found this thread through the "related threads" on one of the newer threads. Besides, wouldnt be easier if i did it this way? No point in me starting a whole new thread if i already know a person that can answer.
I admit i couldve PM'd you but i was lazy. sorry
i cant seem to find out if my graphics card is good enough
Threadjacking and gravedigging isn't cool.

The GeForce GTX 540M meets the minimum graphics requirement for Diablo III and should play the game fluently on the lowest visual settings.
Lower division science/math majors don't need powerful computers. However, it is a very common interest to have a gaming computer. The difference between the $1100 Alienware M14x (i5-2450M and GeForce GT 650M) and the MSI GT60 is $400, medium vs high on Diablo III, dual vs quad core CPU, amount of RAM, 6.45 lbs vs 7.7 lbs, 5.1 channel vs 2.1 channel audio, etc.

I'd personally would prefer a computer that can max out the games I play and so I favor the MSI GT60 over the Alienware M14x.
My laptop has nvidia geforce GT540m with 1gb dedicated.
I believe everything else meets the minimum/recommended requirements but i cant seem to find out if my graphics card is good enough

Thank you so much you've helped alot honestly. My last question is, since I'm going to university next year (majoring in science/math) should I get an alienware laptop or the one you just recommended?
It's much better to recommend specific models when you actually have the money because the hardware landscape changes regularly.

If you want a recommendation now or just want to know what the expected performance of current offerings, I need a goal to work with, such as desired graphical detail or tentative budget. $700-800 Lenovo Y570 laptops are capable of playing D3 on the medium settings. The $1100+ Alienware M14x also plays D3 on the medium settings.
Ah thank you, do you know any laptop that can play D3 on high settings? ( Assuming I can do other things like use microsoft word, power point etc normal computer needs).
The questionnaire below was originally written by @qwan456 . You will also need to indicate the level of graphical detail you are aiming for. One recent laptop request on this board wanted D3 to play at max and a $1200 gaming laptop was the best recommendation.

1) What's your budget? There are a large variety of laptops at different price point. This will help to find you the best laptop that will suit your needs within the budget that you had given

2) What state or country you are from? - This is to prevent the laptop that is being recommended from going over the budget that you have set due to tax or price differences between countries

3) What will you be doing on this laptop? - Be specific. Are you just web browsing and word processing? Are you going to do CAD work? Video editing? Photoshop? If you are going to be gaming, list all of the games that you are planning on playing. There are many different laptop's configurations that are being sold. One little information can very well change what laptop you should get over another.

4) What is your preferred screen size? - A larger size screen may affect the portability of the laptop due to its larger size, weight, and potentially a shorter battery life. Of course, it can give you a screen with a higher resolution which will result in a larger workspace.

5) Is the weight of the laptop a concern? - In general, 7-10lbs may not seem heavy; however, if you are traveling a lot with the laptop on your shoulder, it can potentially cause fatigue and stress on your body overtime, especially if the laptop isn't the only thing you will be carrying. This is not a concern to some; however, it shouldn't be ignored

6) How long you want the battery life to be? - Maximum battery life rated by the manufacturer is often done in an environment that is best suited to get the most out of the battery. When answering this consider how long you will be away from a power outlet, what will you be doing during that time, and how much time will you have to charge your laptop when you finally near an outlet.

7) Are the looks of the laptop an important factor to you? - Do you want a stylish-futuristic looking laptop similar to the Alienware? Do you want a more simple-professional looking laptop like a Clevo or another business-grade laptop? Do you want a unique laptop that is sexy and elegant like the Asus Bamboo series? Do you want a back-lit keyboard?

8) Do you have a brand that you prefer or hate? - While there's a good chance there's nothing wrong with the brand that is being recommended, it will be waste of time in finding it and trying to convince you otherwise if you are going to be set on not getting it

9) Is there anything else you are looking for in a laptop that have not been ask? - Beyond what had already been asked, the other minor things may be ignored when a laptop is being recommend, so you will need to mentioned it beforehand. For example, you need a laptop with a HDMI port. Or you are using a mouse to play your games with your right hand and would like the fan exhaust to be on the back or the left side.
1) Idk yet aha I'll be working over the summer and how much I make will determine how much I can spend.

2) Canada, Ontario, Mississauga

3) Web browsing & word processing

4) Does not matter that much tbh.

5) Nope weight does not matter.

6) 2.5 hours +

7) well since I'm buying this with my own money I'd say I want a futuristic looking one (like alien ware) or a sleek sexy one with a lit up key board

8) Nope don't hate or love anything

9) I'd prefer the fan to be on the left side because I'm right handed and play with a mouse.
