Windows Vista, Character Creation Glitch?

So, my step brother is running Windows Vista and since Big Bang Patch, he can't get on Maplestory! I've been trying to fix it for him but i've had no luck. He Gets To Some point in the Character Creation Screen and then disconnects every time. Whether it is choosing which type of character or hitting ok after you chose a name. I would appreciate some help, thanks a lot.
