Post Secondary Education Situation

EDIT: Oh dear lord, can a moderator please move this.

Before I ramble about, I'd like to say that I've spoken to guidance already, they just encourage me to "do my best" but that just leaves me rooted in my fear.

So the situation is that I have a 64% in final year English, my other grades however are above average. Computer Science and Calculus are above average. The way that it works in Ontario, Canada is that they take the average of your top 6 academic courses. BUT prerequisite courses will automatically be placed in the top six regardless of the mark. So what I'm worried about now is if any of the Universities will accept me.

I am also in a victory lap year and I was too late to apply to an English class for the final semester or even for night school. So the last choice is summer school but I don't know if the schools will wait, I've heard that the latest a student can hear about an acceptance is mid-late May. I've also past the deadline for any College applications, so I'm in a "make it or break it" situation.

Is there anyone with some experience that can help me, help myself?

PS: The program that I'm applying to is for a BSc and they all ask for a 70% in English.
As someone who is in my first year of university (in/from Ontario) after going through the whole application process, I can tell you it's not over yet.

My very first suggestion to you is to talk to your teacher, get them to be sympathetic about your situation. Usually they're not too hard on giving at least a 70 if a student really needs it to get into university, especially if this is already your victory lap. A 64% is very close, so its not too big of a request. Also thoroughly talk with them as to what you need to work on, to show that you're willing to work towards improvement.

Aside from that, even if you don't end up meeting that 70% requirement, universities WILL take summer school marks even after offers/rejections have been given out. However, you NEED to make sure within the FIRST WEEK of summer school that you send this mark to the university. I know this because my friend was in a similar situation and got rejected by failing to meet a requirement, and was later accepted after completing summer school in August.

On that note, since you're applying to Computer Science, I would say that you need at least a mid-80 or (even 90's, such as for UofT) average ANYWAYS. So if you don't have any marks that are EXCEPTIONAL (I'm not too sure what you mean by 'above average'), your english mark may not make that much of a difference.
Thank you VERY much for this post! I really mean it, I think you just saved me from a lot of stress, I'll talk with the teacher but I will most definitely retake the course in the summer. Thank you once again!
below 93% and not disowned yet?

what kind of world do you even live in
Actually, my parents are disappointed in me. They actually do think like that. And the fact that I took a victory lap makes them feel pity for me. I'm just going to try my hardest and get myself out of here.
all depends on what school you applied for if its like uoft, ryerson, waterloo then they will most likely wont take you u can still send them a a letter saying you will up your english in summer and see what happens but they usually will run out of space before then
Well, I applied to UoFT, Ryerson and York, I guess it won't hurt to take it again.

Hmm, yeah I think it's best to personally call the Universities and ask them if they will wait for summer school marks. Thanks guys!

Yes, because not using commas and including vulgar language will definitely help me boost my grammar. Isn't that right, Hokage of Konoha?

Admissions staff review on a case-by-case basis, so if your other marks are exceptional and your overall average is great, then there's still a slim chance - obviously one you don't want to take. Why did you perform so poorly in such a crucial course? If you have a legitimate reason for the low mark, you can always contact them explaining your extraordinary circumstances.

ISUs are like final exams. You have to be responsible and realize that an assignment worth so much is worth doing well. In university, I have exams worth as much as 90% of my mark, and if I didn't study well enough, then I have to face the music and learn from it.
What help do you want? Looks like your marks are set. These are consequences of either slacking in English. If you didn't slack, and legitimately got a 64, I don't think any university should accept you.
I was getting mid 70's but the ISU is what got to me, I'd have at least passed with a 70% if it wasn't for that.

Ah, yeah. I forget to mention that. I'm applying for a BSc in Computer Science and they are asking for a 70% in English.

Depends on the program if they want a 75% and you score 70% they should be ok with that. Also go find a private school they will except you even if you think its late as long as you have the money.

What programs and schools are you applying to? Almost every Canadian university does give out all their acceptances by May, so if you took summer school, you'd probably be taking a year off before getting accepted.
