Alternatively you could have just waited until you got an Occult Cube or two from Root Abyss and used 2 of those to go from Rare > Epic > Unique, then you would only have needed to buy one cube (Super).

Only if it's possible to increase a tier, which for the regular cubes, it isn't (from unique to legendary). If you try to apply that line of reasoning to say that reg. cubes should make the items legendary, you can extend the argument to say that each successive cube should create a new tier...

obviously you don't know how cubes work. you need the right cube to rank up to legendary, even if it's 100% rank up rate.

@AngelicSith: Except Nexon rarely includes any exclusions in their descriptions, so you would think that, but it's not. Generally, you'd need 2 Regular Miracle Cubes to get to Unique from Rare, and then a Super Miracle Cube for Legendary.

Lol, this. If you read the Regular Miracle Cubes, they'll note that the max Potential you can reach is Unique tier only.
