Xbox 360 or Ps3?

I was wondering what should I get a Xbox 360 or Ps3? And why?

This right here.
I dont have many gamer friends, so I went with 360. Very happy with it.

If you are getting it for black ops, the servers for PS3 are so screwed up right now it's almost funny.
It really comes down to preference of certain games and your willingness towards some of the accessories that you have to pay for (and how much money you are willing to spend)

XBOX: You get an abundance of great games, but you have to pay 50$ for live each year (That is about 1 more game you could buy if you don't buy live).
I think you also have to buy the wireless battery pack/charger for it (Someone please update me on this, cause I don't know much about the XBOX).

PS3: If you want a headset to talk with people over the free online, it'll cost you 60$ or so for a cheap Bluetooth headset (I recommend getting the P21 Headset if you are a serious gamer)
There aren't that many exclusive games on the PS3, but the ones that it has are absolutely amazing (MGS, inFAMOUS, LBP, Uncharted)

I personally prefer the PS3, normally since I don't play a whole lot (maybe 4-5 hours per week?) and it's a waste having to spend 50$ on some online play that I don't really go on (if I had an XBOX that is). I also don't buy a whole ton of games (I stick to 1st party PS3 games), so my library consists of only the absolute best games (Assassin's Creed, Arkham Asylum, COD, etc.).
and who says you need a blue tooth? i mean seriously i don't need one it pointless and money consuming

If you like RPG games, ps3.
If you like FPS games, xbox.

This probably. But I honestly think the PS3 is more "bang-for-your-buck."
I have a 360 and going to get a PS3 for christmas because most of my friends play PS3. But the 360 controller is much better =)
You realize you can get a 360-style controller for the PS3, right?

Since you are getting Black Ops, get it for the Xbox 360. Black ops for the ps3 is a port of the Xbox so it has lots of problems. Personally, I'd choose the Ps3 over Xbox anyday. If your worried about the community, look at the type of grammar people promoting Xbox/Ps3 have in this thread.
You can also fix the RROD. All you need to do is spend like $10 on materials. But since Microsoft has a 3 year warranty, they do it for free, so there is really no point. Unless you can't go a week without your console.
Actually with the new xboxes it's only a 1 year warranty

Do whatever you want. These threads always just dissolve into a cesspool of stupidity. It will solve nothing.

OKay, I work for gamestop and here's how i break it down for customers. If you want crystal clear graphics and totally original exclusives like little big planet go for ps3, also if you enjoy HD movies the blue ray player is a big plus. If you prefer playing online with a good signal(xbox live is a lot more stable then psn because it's a paid network) and playing more rpg type exclusives i.e. fable also if you like motion gaming the xbox is definitely the way to go. Kinect is galaxies ahead of the wii and the psmove. HOpe this helps.

I've never played a 360, but I really like the PS3.
You can play PS1 Games on it(not PS2 yet, sadly) and if you have a PSP you can connect them in a way that you can basically play whats on your PS3 on your PSP from anywhere.
I dunno if you can do Netflix on an XBox, but you can on a PS3, so me and my fiance watch movies a lot.
Also, unless you're into those Xbox specific games, it won't even matter.
Unless you play with your friends.
Cause, then you should probably get whichever one they play because you can't cross-platform friend.

In other words;

PS3 Fanboys versus X-box Fanboys.

Honestly - they all have their pros and cons. I use the xbox 360 for console gaming, but I haven't enough information on both consoles to make a biased opinion and even then, people will think overwise. Research, think hard and see how you go from there.

How to choose your console - The most simple guide yet

1. Which do you have more friends on?
If it's about even then go to step 2, if not skip to step 3
2. What is your controller preference?
3. Buy the console that applies to step 1 (and/or) 2
PS3:

Internet is free
Pretty much same games as 360
Sony owns
Kinect Fails
Xboxes Break easily
Etc.
Despite me being a huge Sony fan, some of your points were not valid arguments.
Kinect, despite it's sometimes laggy feedback sold 2.5 million units worldwide so far.

i have both and TBH i find xbox way more fun, its more user friendly and its easy to connect with your friends but then if your not getting anyform of income it might be hard to keep up with xbox live payments but it shouldnt its like $70NZD for 12months so it shouldnt be a problem but PS3 hsa free online however the connection is crap compared to xbox's cause they dont have as many updates like the xbox, they dont have the update which only gets you into games within your country so you can always get great connection. although xbox has many advantages over the PS3 its offline exclusive games arent nearly as great as GoW or the TK series but i find Fable quite nice
Xbox if you want to have some more fun and it's more competitive then PS3.
Whoa, lighting the fire a little early aren't you?

1st part: opinion
2nd part: there's almost always 300-500K people on all the time in Black Ops in PS3. Sure, that's not even close to the 360's amount, but it's more than enough to find some competition

Can't just ask and not give any details.
What kind of games are you into?
Are you competitive?
etc/
