Why do you do it?
Is there a reason for it? What inspires you when you make your avatars? Is there anything in particular that makes you want to create an avatar?
When making avatars, what do you look for? how do you start them? How can you tell when your done?

Edit: As for myself, I try to make avatars all the time, but I rarely find what I'm looking for, so I just go try again a few days later. I try to put some sort of emotions or feelings into my avatars, and I try to make them out of the ordinary. I'm not too good at doing what I [i]try[/i] to do, but I occasionally get results I'm happy with.

i make avatars whenever i'm tired of looking at my current avatar.
Mostly for fun and avoiding certain things/work. People, likes and such are my inspiration for many. There's nothing really that makes want to make one, it's usually procrastination or boredom.
I usually start off with a likable hat and work from there on and at times a theme beforehand. I find it rather easy and effortless to choose a top first and then hatless or have a hat that would work with it in a way. For one of my latest I tired incorporating items that have some sort of symbolism and add onto the look.
