MapleStory has 5 professions which allow you to craft items, but before you're able to do this, you need to learn a harvesting skill which will allow you to collect the necessary materials used to make items. Read the short introduction below to learn about Harvesting, Crafting and some of the benefits that professions have on Traits.
Harvesting
Harvesting consists of Herbalism and Mining and is the process in which you extract some of the ingredients (ie, flowers and ores) which can then be used to create Armor, Weapons, Accessories and other items.

Crafting
Depending on the Harvesting skill you've chosen you'll be able to pick from one of three Crafting professions.

Professions and Traits
The use of some profession skills can also improve your Traits. Insight can be increased by mining ores, Dilligence by making items and gain Empathy by gathering herbs.
