i Dropped my ipod touch in water

yeah, pretty much it get completely submerged in water with some soap in my sink for a few seconds. when i took it out and dried it, i couldnt touch anything and things were beeing activated by themselves as expected and i started to freak out in my endless rage -.- i doubt its gonna make it to ever be used again. am i allowed to just send it to apple? i think i bought the insurance but i think it ended or something. im wondering if i can send it to them to fix it without having to do anything. so any help?

Dont worry every stuff like that when completely dried from the inside will recover by itself. Like once i was using my Gameboy and i accidentally dropped it in the toilet full of pee but i didn't care i sticked my hand in it and took it out but it didnt wanna turn on. Then after maybe a few months it turned on... but it still smelled like pee.
What I do when I drop my electronics in water is open up the back, take out the battery and then put both of them in a bowl of rice. It soaks up the water and then works perfectly fine and it has for my other friends too.
But I think you should call apple and ask if you still have a valid warranty on your ipod.
This. Rice absorbs water easily. Try it out.
I got pretty lucky one time: my ipod was in my jacket pocket and i put it in the washing machine. after 10 min, i was like...waita minute :OOOOO i took it out and tredd to turn it on. then after that, iwa s like...oh snap, and i used the hair drier, and tried to turn it on again and again for 5 min while drying. then, since no response, i plugged it into my computer to charge it cuz it said no batteries. didnt work, so i left in rice for a day, and the only problems it had after it worked was that there was no backlight and the menus button works only if you push super hard. lucky? rice is everything

Do not put it under a hair dryer, it creates and ungodly amount of static. Try rice, or just letting it sit for a few days.[/quotedoe
is the static supposed to help it dry or something?

@EatChaBabies: but did it have like white spots in any corners? because that would mean it has water damage and thats how they can tell if it is or not. and yes the speakers do act up for me

I dropped my gameboy SP in the toilet once (no, it was BEFORE I used it thank god)
You gotta put it under a hairdryer
do NOT try to charge it until you've left it under a hairdryer for like, 2-3 hours.
1. leave it in a bag of rice for 3-5 days completely coverd. - make sure it is turned off
2. plug it in to ur computer and leave it on for 2-3 days. it gets it heated and evaporates the water faster.
3. pray
4. if all else fails go to apple say the speaker sounds funky every now and then and get a new one.
how do they know how it was damaged? does it mean i can just tell them anything and theyll replace it?

ugh, this sucks. ipod touches are so sensitive :c i think its too late to put it in rice and i really shouldnt take it apart

You can't really take apart the iPod. Well you can if you know what you're doing but that will void the warranty if you still have it for sure.

Apple doesn't fix water damage :<
But you should let it dry for now. Make sure the ports on the bottom (charger and earphone port) are facing down so the water can get out.
As far as I know, the rest of the ipod is waterproof, but I don't know about the button areas.

ANd I think you should turn it off if possible. Hold the sleep and home button at the same time for 10-15 seconds until it's off.
