My phone got into water

My phone is an iPhone 3GS. It fell into the shower, but not a lot of water doesn't seem to go on it. I put it in rice for some time(like 20 min). It seems to be working fine, but the "This accessory is not optimized for this device" pops up out of nowhere occasionally. Is it ok?

Edit: OK, I'll put it back in the rice all night. If it doesn't fix the problem, I'll probably leave in there the whole day

I dropped my phone into a hot tub once.

I think you're good for now, TS. Just keep piling on that rice.

I must be an effing idiot, but..

What will rice do to help get rid of the water inside the iPod? Unless the rice were broken up into small particulate bits small enough to fit between the cracks, I'm sure that it'll soak up everything on the outside but won't act as a good enough desiccant for whatever moisture lies inside.

If the small pieces do get through, I'm sure that you'll have a much greater problem than water damage.

Something similar happened to me last year... I was drunk in a party, went to the bathroom, and for some odd reason I was holding my phone with my chin (I was pushing the phone to my chest so it didn't fall). So yeah, I was urinating and then I forgot about my phone, relaxed my head and the goddamn phone falls into the toilet.

But yeah, put the phone back into the rice
